I didn't expect Israel to invade Lebanon. It was logical to end the genocide in Gaza and with that Hezbollah's rocket and missile attacks would end too. But Netanyahu's Israel has shown it is much more extremist and willing to bear losses for an expansionist cause.

Damaged buildings in a residential area following an Israeli attack on Dahieh suburb in Beirut

Israel's intensified bombing campaign of Lebanon has caused more damage to buildings in two weeks than occurred during a year of cross-border fighting with Hezbollah, according to satellite-based radar data assessed by the BBC.

Data shows that more than 3,600 buildings in Lebanon appear to have been damaged or destroyed between 2 and 14 October 2024. This represents about 54% of the total estimated damage since cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah broke out just over a year ago.

The damage data was gathered by Corey Scher of City University of New York and Jamon Van Den Hoek of Oregon State University. They compared radar satellite images to reveal sudden changes in the height or structure of buildings which indicate damage.

Wim Zwijnenburg, an environmental expert from the Pax for Peace organisation, reviewed the satellite-based radar data and warned of the impact of Israelā€™s bombing.

ā€œThe Israeli military campaign seems to be creating a ā€˜dead zoneā€™ in the south of Lebanon to drive out the population, and making it difficult for Hezbollah to re-establish positions, at the cost of the civilian population,ā€ he said.

Cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah broke out after the armed Lebanese group started firing rockets in and around northern Israel in support of Palestinians on 8 October 2023, the day after its ally Hamasā€™s deadly attack on southern Israel.

Israel invaded southern Lebanon in a dramatic escalation on 30 September to destroy, it said, Hezbollah weapons and infrastructure in ā€œlimited, localised, targeted raidsā€.

Satellite photos, radar imagery, and military records show recent Israeli bombardment in Lebanon has focused on the southern border region. It has also expanded to central and northern areas, including the Bekaa Valley and Beirut's southern suburbs.

The Israeli army said it hit thousands of Hezbollah targets across Lebanon, including the capital, Beirut.

Most of the strikes on Beirut have targeted Dahieh, a southern suburb that is home to thousands of civilians. The Israeli military claims the area is home to Hezbollahā€™s command headquarters.

A series of Israeli strikes on buildings in the area killed Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah on 27 September.

Separate data from the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (Acled), which has been analysed by the BBC, indicates at least 2,700 attacks by the Israeli military on Lebanese areas from 1 September until 11 October 2024. While these attacks primarily focus on southern border areas, they have also extended to northern and central regions.

Hezbollah has carried out around 540 attacks against Israel in the same timeframe, according to Acled. Each Hezbollah attack can include a barrage of rockets, missiles and drones.

These are relatively weak and tiny attacks that don't cause damage and casualties in comparison to what Israel has done to Lebanon and Gaza at a genocidal and mass destructive level. If Israel is willing to bear their losses, and they have shown they are, while nobody has shown they are willing to stop Israel such as the West and Arabs, or can stop them such as Iran, then the genocide of Palestinians and Lebanese will become normalized which it has. However, Iran has shown itself to be a major world power and the dominant local power in the middle east, although it does not have the power to stop the genocide in Gaza and Lebanon. Conclusion: Cannon fodder "resistance" armies are not a good idea for those being genocided.

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the destruction of four Israeli Merkava tankstoday, reportedly with their crews inside. This attack is part of a broader series of military operations against Israeli forces amid ongoing hostilities.

Key Details:

  • Attack Method: The tanks were targeted using guided missiles, which Hezbollah has increasingly employed in recent confrontations. This tactic reflects their strategic approach to countering Israeli armored capabilities.
  • Casualties: While specific numbers regarding casualties among the crew have not been confirmed, Hezbollah's statements suggest that the attacks inflicted significant damage and loss of life.
  • Context: This incident follows a series of escalating conflicts between Hezbollah and Israel, particularly in the wake of heightened tensions in the region. The ongoing military actions are part of Hezbollah's response to Israeli operations and attacks in Lebanon and Gaza.
This development underscores the volatile security situation in the region and highlights the ongoing military exchanges between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, which have significant implications for regional stability.

Good news as high altitude capabilities of Hezbollah seems to be increasing.

It becomes attrition warfare as Hezbollah makes attacks on northern isr, Iraq resistance makes attacks on Golan and similar areas and Houthis focus on stopping supplies and make ballistic missile attacks to certain targets. Gaza also does its part taking out israeli soldiers. Casualties and costs will mount for sure but israel with its airforce also gives casualties to the resistance that is true. Stealth attacks, ambushes and hit-run strikes should be adopted as much as possible to reduce casualties. Also as mentioned before Hezbollah as well as Yemen, Iraqi resistance need to get high altitude anti air capabilities asap. This would risk their operations risking their high end aircraft like F16s F15s as well if groups have sufficient capabilities. Drones are already been taken out as they cant easily designate targets for their F16s as before.

What they can also do is coordinated focused attacks that can be controlled from Iran. For example against an israeli airbase first target should be their radars that control air defenses like iron dome and thaad. Sigint-Elint operation to detect radar positions is cruicial for that kind of operation and satellite pictures to determine the exact coordinates. There are very large areas in Southern Iraq connecting to Syria. Some drones can be converted to carry elint-sigint pods to collect israeli radar information launched from southern Iraq. These drones should be large enough to carry these pods and since there are no airfields they need to be either vtol(costly and less stealthy) or they need to use dolly-launch&landing skids for landing. They can easily land on a flattened area that way. After Iraqi resistance supplies radar info Iranian satellite pics can locate radar positions.

First strike on the airfield should be on the runway by Hezbollah or Yemeni precision ballistic missiles. After large holes are on the runway planes cannot take off and stay there. Secondly Radars can be attacked by Yemeni ballistic missiles, Hezbollah/Iraqi long range kamikaze drones. After that the defences of the airfield would be gone. Swarm kamikaze drones of Iraq-Hezbollah and Hezbollah swarm ballistic missiles would do the finishing move targeting aircraft hangars, parking aircraft, control areas and other vital targets on the airbase. Other Iron dome and similar anti air radars would be there as well on border areas before the airbase which need to be gradually weakened in a similar manner with elint + anti radar operations of Hezbollah - Iraqi resistance.

Hezbollah's Radwan Force has captured 13 Israeli soldiers, including a commander with the rank of Colonel from the Israeli army. There is currently widespread chaos inside the Israeli Knesset, and the situation is being kept under strict secrecy.
Hizbollah has not yet made any official announcement. We have to wait for an official announcement from Hezbollah.(illustrative image)

Without adequate air defense, it is genocidal level of casualties, mostly civilians, civilian and ecomonic infrastructure, while attrition to Israel is made up by US and Western supply. People were commenting Hezbollah has 200,000 missiles. I was expecting massive missile, drone, rocket in Israeli cities after Beirut and other Lebanese cities were bombed. So resistance has far too much price for little gain, with no objective to win.

The Israeli Army starts finding more & more Russian weapons used by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
The weapons were provided by Russia to the Syrian Army but have ā€œsomehowā€ ended up in the hands of Hezbollah. This weapons cache was found in a Radwan tunnel.

After 7 October Hamas initiation that is why I was for Hezbollah and other groups to first get air defenses from Iran(tartus port Syria) to not to turn into Gaza. After air defenses are beefed up enough they could strike areas like Golan and similar with less israeli air control over Labennon. Transferring rockets ballistic missiles are easier for Iran but it has limited effectiveness unless you have air defence. Also high value figures like Nasrallah and others could have been protected better if air defenses were transferred from Iran(stand off weapons like cruise missiles have limited bunker busting ability they need to come close inside air defence range to release bunker buster bombs). Now israeli demands for the ceasefire are unaccaptable like disarmement of Hezbollah and similar items so resistance must carry on inflicting damage on israel. Good news is they are getting better and better at it with increased air defence as well.

Now making mistakes is not a very bad thing you pay by facing consequences of it too. But not accepting a mistake is a very bad thing. Accepting a mistake is the first step to improve yourself. If previous mistakes are not accepted like for example if air defences are not transferred to Yemen and Iraqi groups they will be bombed soon by Usa after trump is selected.dems started bombing campaings as well they are not much different either controlled by israeli associated groups. Especially Yemen will be bombed to dust if Iran does not transfer more air defences. So Iran should transfer air defences finding someway to related groups. By air defences I dont mean high end equipment like bawar 373. Current high altitude systems(IIR tracking + laser-radar rangefinder) + passive radar (using cheap fm transmitters) search radar option would suit well. They are also cheaper and can be transferred-even some parts produced locally by higher numbers.
