Cut back the rear section of the Swedish SAAB J-37 Viggen and add the Frontal of Mirage-2000 and you have the INDIGENIOUS LCA Tejas in all it's glory.

Thus have a problem
So they fixing it in mk2 with adding what they cut

Capability to mass produce Tejas at an affordable price would matter more than the indigenous tag :-)

Hmmmm, then it will become logistic nightmare for India, so many foreign component and technologies in it

Ideally, key components have to be sourced from countries that are likely to have an aligned mutual interest in the long term. I think around 50% of the components in the Jet are sourced from outside. Hopefully, they are not sourced from too many different countries.

HAL is also likely to stock up on spares to support servicing the aircraft.

You're following the procedures of civilian/passenger jets, this approach is bad for LCA/Tejas

Na most likely Tejas is copy cat of South African CANCELED CARVAR

May be HAL/India bought the Design from Atlas during early 90s when Tejas were in its in early design phase

Whatever anything else, the wings on Tejas resemble more to the Viggen than anything else.

India came close to buying the Viggen but Washington, which provided the engines, blocked the sale in 1978. The IAF bought the Anglo-French Jaguar instead, which still remains in service.(https://www.business-standard.com/a...r-f-16-production-numbers-116102100047_1.html)

So maybe they are looking to fulfill that dream of flying sweedish craft as they are using same engines as gripens.
