Arjun tanks?
Why? Because -why doesnt Modi just give the farmers want they want and end this? surely they cant be asking for much.
Modi is an idiot. He will end up replacing the middle man system with heavy subsidisation as has happened in UK farming. Small/medium farms will simply not be able to compete and the farmers will need bailout after bailout. Half of our EU negotiations used to be about farming and fishing subsidies. Why? Because -
- he is a good leader
- most of Indian etablishment know this is good for India and stand by it.
- most of the political class also know it's good for India and stand by it.
Now why? Because what was a good idea decades of is now archaich. Similiar to how state owned corporations enjoying monopolies like PIA, Pak Steel etc might have been good idea decades ago but today they are loss making and hold back innovation. They have just become dole outs for the employees and trhe consumer suffers.
The Indian farmer is tied into a fixed regime which assured him certain guranteed price but today this is holding agriculture back. By undoing this fixed regime a dynamic, competitive and innovative agriculture sector will get a chance to take root. But this means change. And those who will face the change - the farmers are out protesting.
But if Modi is good by India he will hold his ground.

It is just a drama, this whole protest is just a drama buy some landlords. Are farmers present only in Punjab? There are farmers in every state of India but why are only Punjabi and Haryanvi farmers doing this drama? Why no farmer from Bihar, West Bengal, Kerela or Karnataka protesting? And the ones protesting in Karnataka are Punjabis who work in Bangalore.why doesnt Modi just give the farmers want they want and end this? surely they cant be asking for much.
The effect is not on hundreds of millions but 10s of millions mostly Punjabi farmers. To make an omelette you have to break a few eggs. Take it from this was needed. With regards to consulation in South Asia this would entail talking, talking, talking until the year 2050. Then after some chai more talking.Prior to a policy that would effect hundreds of millions they should really have had a consultative period and explained why the new laws were necessary going forward and the problems caused by the current system
You explained it well, without any Bias, kudos to you. Why? Because -

The problem in life is not that you don'[t know what to do but doing it. Because that often entails pain. You can look at Pakistan. Everybody knows PIA needs to be sold or scrapped, ditto Pak Steel, ditto other enterprises that chew away billions of dollars every year. Money which could build dams, 100s of hospitals, 1,000s of schools. But what happens?
The reason China has moved at the speed it has is because instead consulting. It fcukin did it.
There's no problem with idea of SOEs, the problem is in the mindset of people thinking of them as baap ka Mal, and politicians bowing down to investors instead of nurturing the SOEsWhy? Because -

The poison is brimming and we need to use it
