That's your thought or wish but as you know more than me that courts do not act upon wishes but facts and evidences

I find disgrace when an ordinary Pakistani is not safe even after the top court of Pakistan has cleared her of all the allegations (hoping they will on thursday)

Well I respect your wish and opinion but looking at the history of this trial...it is highly unlikely that supreme court will not...uphold the the decision as her appeal has been rejected by all the subordinate courts.

This is her motherland and should be able to take sigh of relief/freedom upon her release from the prison

No it does not my friend. Islam does not need Pakistani state to protect it. It was there before it and will be there after it. The British were there from 1849-1947 and there was more peace then now. Find out how many females they locked up on blasphemy charges.

All this blasphemy legislation does is it encourages people to go around judging others or using Islam as tool to punish others.

Blasphemy laws assure that peace remains.

Insulting any religion or religious item can get you charged with Blasphemy. This is to assure that people don't take law into their own hands, in other countries like India; whole villages and towns are wiped out from riots due to small and petty incidents/disputes. This does not happen in Pakistan for a reason.

Many people forget that 99% of Blasphemy law convicts are Muslims.

If some Muslims report a Christian or Hindu for Blasphemy he or she will get punished,even if its not true.
What kind of a bs law is that?
Innocent people will suffer because of such a law.

You need to delimit your frame of referance. Are you using British India - a region that included Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Burma? That was 1/5th of humanity. Lot is going to be happening if you use such wide referance.

However if you uses the region that is Pakistan just ask any elder of what Pakistan was like post 1947. They will tell you relative to today it was haven of peace. Things started to go pear shaped post 1970s.

I got told by one of my cousins that is a lawyer, that majority (if not all) blasphemy cases coming through are all false. People are using the law for personal vendettas. Anyone can claim another person did blasphemy and the other guy will be stuck in the judicial system for many years. Even if they get cleared the damage would have been done.

He actually told me about this one case where an influential person came to a small shop run by a very old man and bought some cigarettes and was leaving without paying for them, when the old man stopped them from leaving they bashed him and said he had done blasphemy. That old man spent 3 years in custody and died without getting his name cleared.

frankly given the poisonous nuisance that these molvis are starting to become, what ataturk did is starting to look very appealing.
