Karachi dwellers exaggerate a lot. You are not the first.

There is no exaggeration. Karachi dwarfs Lahore in all quantifiable ways.

In peak traffic hours of Lahore, it took me 3 hours to reach city center from another distant location. It was this bad.

An average commute from Industrial zones to Suburban areas is roughly 3 hours.

Lahore has not only become one of the largest cities in the world but much better developed than Karachi. The latter looks like kachra kundi in comparison.

The concentration of allotted funds to make Lahore, Paris of Punjab has literally made Lahore just that. One urban city to cater 70 percent of Punjabs resources and urban dependancy.

Wait for new updates about Lahore to become global knowledge.

hopefully that global knowledge can be used to determine the impact of global climate change in botched urban planning.

it's already the smog capital of the world.

The census premise rules out a chunk of Karachi the size of Lahore. Its as simple as that.

And why not? Lahore is second largest economic hub of Pakistan as well.

Why not because such lopsided approach to administrative planning has created more issues than resolutions for more than a century.

A lot of it comes from India as well.

the city still does not have to function as a trap for it.

I'm from Lahore but if we really want to do Karachi vs Lahore, you can say all you want about Karachi being a garbage dump and what not but there is no denying that its the heart of country's economic activity. All major businesses are situated there and for a reason. I don't know why a lot of people from villages and other cities move to Lahore. In my opinion, it has nothing to offer. Its among the world's top 3 worst air quality cities and it has nothing to offer to generate jobs and neither is the city of tourism it once was as the northern areas have taken the lead in that regard. When I think of Lahore, its a big suburb with roads leading to no where and this may be true for other Punjab cities as well because their lifestyle is similar to North America

No. Pakistan is a genuine nation state.

Besides, it really is Greater Punjab. NWFP and Balochistan are tribal backwaters which cant survive without Punjabi wealth creation. Besides, NWFP has large Hazara and Hindko minorities which will never abandon Punjab. If Sindh tries to walk out it will be ripped apart in a civil war pitting rural Sindh v/s Urban Sindh and in urban areas Mojos v/s Punjoo-Pathan alliance.

As someone whose family is from Lahore, I’m embarrassed by this. I’m going to blame the powers that be that for 80 years, they refused to develop Pakistans own unique culture. Had we done that using cultures from the four provinces (which btw are closely related genetically and culturally), Pakistan today would not be so confused between aping the Goras and their self destructive ways to aping the POS on the Eastern border who literally want to subjugate Pakistan and it’s people. This “poet” literally called Pakistanis terrorists right here in Pakistan.

I find it stupid to generalize all lahoris or punjabis. The same way its stupid to generalize all pashtuns as extremists.
Having said that, itis evident that Pakistani establishment is sucking up to india and making afghans enemy. You see how the generals suck up toindia and talk of peace and then call afghans as enemies. Kartarpur is another example of sucking up to india.
