LAHORE: An enraged mob beat a Christian couple to death and burnt their bodies in the brick kiln where they worked on Tuesday for allegedly desecrating a copy of the Holy Quran, police said.

The incident took place at the town of Kot Radha Kishan, some 60 kilometres southwest of Lahore, and is the latest example of mob violence against minorities accused of blasphemy.

“A mob attacked a Christian couple after accusing them of desecration of the Holy Quran and later burnt their bodies at a brick kiln where they worked,” local police station official Bin-Yameen told AFP.

“Yesterday an incident of desecration of the Holy Quran took place in the area and today the mob first beat the couple and later set their bodies on fire at a brick kiln,” he added.

Another police official confirmed the incident.

You really think that, such a large number of people- Christians in this case, are mad enough, to start blasphemy, in an extremism plagued society? I do not think so.

i do believe because look at the blasphemy cases reports in few years ... have you heard any muslim using bad language for Hazrat Esa pbuh ?? or burn bible ???

There is nothing wrong with Christians, since only an insane person would have done knowing what inhumane treatment is meted out by mobs, for mere allegations, however there is everything wrong with extremists, in this country, abusing the blasphemy laws, to target minorities. Who sadly, wont get your sympathy and support, because of the religious factor. This is the reason, for your country, going downhill, the radicalization and extremism has rotten it, to the core.

P.S Look at what seriously? Allegations and then people getting killed by groups of Mullahs? Have the allegations, ever been proven, in a court of law? Look at that? Do you believe in street justice too, like many of our countrymen?

sir dont put all your eggs in one basket ...... misusing blasphemy laws is wrong as much as abusing the Quran and Prophet..but yeah you can say that the punishment should be given by govt only and after proper investigation .. but again .. the problem still lies .. why this kind of blasphemy cases rise ??? what the Christians in Pakistan have in their minds ?? why provoking the mob ?

Why exactly, would the minorities, suddenly go irrational/mad to start disrespecting the religion or the Prophet who brought it? Why assume the onus of responsibility, on their behalf? Even though, they are getting killed and their houses burned, on mere allegations, even when their guilt hasn't been established. Why expect me to support the extremists, in the country, in such case? Or you reserve your tears, only when the Muslim inhabitants, are targeted? I will repeat again, there is nothing wrong with Christians, the rise in blasphemy cases is being fueled by rise in radicalization. If this is the common thought, then the people of Pakistan, deserve ISIS and Taliban. When all it takes to kill people or burn their houses, is the word/testimony of a single "Mullah" in an area usually in a mood for targeting minorities or personal revenge purposes, that such and such person has committed blasphemy, then God save this country. Thank you though, for atleast agreeing, that punishment should be given by the state, not served street style, thats big of you, in the present situation.

and i am not justifying any mob to kill or burn the house of minorities ... law and order should be maintain by govt .. extremist are extremist their work is to put gasoline in fire and than watch the show from far ... but my question is why not Christians on the first hand try to stop this blasphemy within their own comity ? they have represents .... they should educate peoples not to do such thing which provoke mobs ?? and again even if they do , there is no right for any masjid or madarasa to burn house or kill that person ...
and as for deserving ISIS and TTP , they are animals . and we dont need animal .. there is a difference between animal and human ... minorities should be protect according to law .. and almost all countries have minorities , have you heard that Saudi Christian ever do Blasphemy etc? ?? why its in Pakistan that sometimes Christians are burning quran and sometimes they are doing Blasphemy ??

What i think and what of my point of views is up to me to post em or not you have no idea what is going on in my mind i already know the reasons and i know the minorities are getting bashed each day please do not comment on what you do now know.

Blaspheme law needs to be scrapped, Responsibility of protecting God, His book and His Prophets should be given back to God.
