What's new

Lahore is a city made better by the indomitable spirit of Pakhtuns

no we also use this word.
my farher used to teach me pashto at home his spoken pashto was also literary and too difficult so only i managed to adopt the book version while my brothers speak the routine yousafzai dialect which is spoken in most of the urban kpk

for the last para. not true come to Kpk you will see punjabi brothers have started too many trends including establishing food streets in Peshawar. other trade activities

Maybe in Peshawar but what about Afghanistan? Pashtuns in Afghanistan hate Punjabis to the core. They didn't spare Hazaras who sought refuge in NWFP, which is now named as Pakhtunkhwa, to escape racial war from Afghanistan. In sight, it is big mistake to change the name of province considering there are other races as well.

In our village a couple of guys from sargodha opened a bakery, and they have been here for the last 15 years...Most of the time, they don't even have to cook meals for themselves as people bring them from home...They seem to be pretty satisfied here..

You are gravely misinformed if you put Pashtuns from Afghanistan and Pakistan in the same category..

.
Having a title of khan doesn't make a person pashtun. Pashto speaking people always ask first" can you speak pashto" if answer is no then you witness an ironically smiling face who is now looking some where else.

lolzz why punjabis want to go to those rora gara land Afghanistan currently.
we are talking about Pakistanis not Afghanistanis.

Lahore is made better by Shahbaz Sharif and PMLN (on the expense of whole Punjab) Pashtun to Karachi main bhi hain...

.
Punjabis have open heart for every ethnicity, you will never find racism in Punjab.

.
It has more to do with energy and activeness of Pashtuns. They even go to areas which are hostile to them and earn their livelihood there. Before partition of subcontinent, they were in every corner of India. In medieval times, they were noted for horse-trade as well as for trading goods between Central Asia and India. Mughals empire had put harsh restrictions on them in India yet they were the most vibrant non-Indian community there and they constituted bulk of Mughal soldiery even though they were mal-treated. Even if they are not welcomed in Karachi, they still flock to that city. Lahore and Punjab is better than Karachi but certainly not paradise. Pashtuns have been harassed there to new heights in recent years, they are certainly viewed with suspicion, with stereotype of terrorists beside numerous other stereotypes e.g child-kidnappers.

They didn't spare Hazaras who sought refuge in NWFP, which is now named as Pakhtunkhwa, to escape racial war from Afghanistan. In sight, it is big mistake to change the name of province considering there are other races as well.
Hazaras sought refuge in Quetta, a Pashtun city.

More than five million baloch live in Punjab not just in Dera ghazi khan but all over the central and southern Punjab but you can witness no hatred despite the killings of Punjabi and saraiki people in Baluchistan.
What are you talking about? the Balochs in Derajat and other areas of South Punjab are not recent economic migrants but descendants of the "conquerors" of medieval period. They are "land-owner" community in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur etc, and they came into possession of these lands centuries ago after numerous wars. Dera Ghazi Khan is named after a Baloch chieftain from Dodai tribe, he was 'master' of the tract in his times. No one granted them lands out of charity , they took it by force as was the custom in medieval period.

.
There is no Punjabi nationalism exists in Punjab. Punjab welcomes everyone not even pashtuns but people from Baluchistan, sindh and the immigrants from all over the India. My family migrated from India and in my whole life I have never met a Punjabi who call us "Muhajir". More than five million baloch live in Punjab not just in Dera ghazi khan but all over the central and southern Punjab but you can witness no hatred despite the killings of Punjabi and saraiki people in Baluchistan.

Most so called "baloch" in punjab are seraki or punjabi speaking since centuries so its not fair comparison. In Pakistan politics are played over language not background. Most mainstream punjabis I came across don't even know Niazis are supposed to be originally pashtun.

Though hinkos in KP feel undone by majority pashtun otherwise they will not keep voting for N-League. In general looking at record of other provinces, Punjab is way better for other province migrants.

Pashtuns dancing attan in Lahore Fortress Mall. They seem to have attracted a big crowd :D

we are talking about Pakistanis not Afghanistanis.

The point is that the multiculturalism is respected in Pakistan because Pakistan encourages multiculturalism openly whether in Punjab dominated regions or Sindh dominated regions. Same cannot be said about Afghanistan which is mainly Pashtuns dominated.

You are gravely misinformed if you put Pashtuns from Afghanistan and Pakistan in the same category..

Afghanistan is Pashtuns land, not Pakistan. In Pakistan, they are Pakistanis in term of nationalism like many others in Pakistan.

But Afghanistan being originally Pashtuns dominated land is not welcoming to Non-Pashtuns.

Afghanistan is not my headach first of all.
you made a comment without research about kpk and now trying a damage control here by bringing Afghanistan . this thread is about Pakistan and Pakistani pashtuns not Afghanistan.
and on a side note Afghanistan is composed of pashtuns and non pashtuns too.

.
Hazaras sought refuge in Quetta, a Pashtun city.

Wrong, Hazaras sought refuge in Pakistan. In Pakistan, this kind of discrimination is not tolerated.

Why else Hazaras would escape from Pashtuns dominated land aka Afghanistan to another Pashtuns dominated regions in Pakistan if Pakistan as multiculturalism nation is not factor?

Pakistani Pashtuns are in non-Pashtuns dominated land so naturally they are bound to be humble.

Whereas in Pashtuns dominated land like Afghanistan, they are not kind to Non-Pashtuns.

Their success in Pakistan is due to the ideology of Pakistan being multiculturalism nation in spirit.
