KSY building amphibious warfare ships for Bangladesh Navy

Maybe. But its true Bangladesh is a very capable ship building nation, it has good repute in commercial ship building. Good funding and import of some key military technologies can take it a great way forward. Bangladesh can certainly take India as an example when it comes to building ship for military purposes.

You off your meds kid?

There is no way that Bangladesh will ever follow Indian example of building ships. It is firmly anchored with China when it is the weapons/missile fittings. Otherwise, our shipbuilders are capable to build up to 30,000 ton ships by ourselves. We import engines and others from abroad, though. We are exporting commercial ships, and will soon start building two navy LPCs with Chinese design/technical assistance.

Yeah, the capability to built 30,000 tonne ships, huh?Your largest one ever built is ~7000 tonne.

And dont under estimate us,we were making 90,000 tonners back in 1980s

Taking example and taking assistance are two entirely different things.
BD is now where India was a decade back in military ship building expertise. And making commercial vessels and building a stealth OPV/corvette/frigate are entirely different. You can build the hull(here too if you want a modern stealth shape you need assistance) but the other technologies need to be imported. And this is where India can be an example,on how to take the path. And gradually you become self-sufficient by a great margin.

Big India needs big ships that weigh 90,000 ton. When Bd needs, it will certainly produce 250,000 ton commercial ships. Issue is market and necessity. Technology wise we are capable. However, a vast dock yard will be needed.

Just wait and see how fast we progress. We are already building oil tanker ships for the navy, large trawlers and many other type of ships.

India is still a learner in the field of shipbuilding. There are other nations who can be our better examples because their industries are quite matured.

You are right in how you perceive. But a poor man cannot idolise or take an example of Bill Gate's son to become billionaire. He must learn from the poor man once next to him who found the right way to become millionaire.

And for God's sake we have our home made stealth Frigates and destroyers. So no we are not new to ship building.Even the radars and weaponry are home made apart from the LRSAMs(Jointly developed BARAK-8 would be inducted soon).

how many will be builded in KSY . And does this ships has any hanger to carry hellicopter ......
How many tanks it can take...and how many soulder....

No we did export 95,000 tonners to many customers abroad.Bangladesh doesnt have rhe technological Capability to build a 250,000 tonner, its biggest one was a 7000 tonne commercial ship.

Just to clarify about Bangladeshi's shipbuilding yards, there are over 135 yards mostly small local builders that cater for local ferries, and a dozen or so yards that build advanced ocean going vessels primarily for export, varying in size but mostly under 10000 tonnes.

Advanced shipbuilding nations china, Korea, Japan etc are concentrating on building larger high margin vessels, those with capacity of 30000 and more. This has meant there is a gap in the market for small to mid sized vessels, which countries like Vietnam, Philippines, UAE, Bangladesh and even Sri Lanka are trying to capture. Bangladesh is actually a late enterant in this global industry, but with a long heritage in building small riverine vessels and price advantages.

The 2 most well known private yards are western marine and ananda though there are many others and all the yards are investing heavily in developing their capacity through direct investments. There is intense competition in this sector from other developing nations.

I think we are many years away before we can truly design and develop our own corvettes and frigates. We should take things in stages, first build under licence with foreign support, then go for coproduction finally then build our own designs.

Stage 1 build our own patrol vessels to 250 tonnes
stage 2. build 650 tonne large patrol vessels.
Stage 3. Next we should build the type 56 corvettes with modification to our needs
Stage 4. Design and build our own stealth frigates

Now KSY is building just 2 LCU. And it does have a hanger to carry helicopter. I don't think this can carry tanks, cause it's just 1.8m deep. A tank won't fit in it. I know nothing about shoulders.

Our market and demands are not big enough to invest on building bigger ships. Once there are demands we have companies who can build those ships as well. Most of the ships in privates sectors are designed in Singapore, be it India or Bangladesh. We have the access to technology same as India. We can ask from Korea, China, Singapore or even Russia from where India gets its own tech.

Which are you suggesting, taking example or taking assistance? What makes you think stealth shaping for ships is that difficult? And what makes you think that Bangladesh does not have that expertise in nation or none of them are researching on the subject?

If its the case of taking example, why, indian public sector yards are notorious for being inefficient and plagued with delays etc. I doubt it's wise to look at modeling our ship building industry after the Indians, when we have Bangladeshi's working in South Korean yards.

Similarly what assistance can india provide that we are not already getting from china and South Korea? Please let us know.

1- If stealth shaping and manufacturing was easy , You would not be seeing such low numbers of such design world wide. And Bangladeshi ships would have looked better and stealthy not tin cans.
2-India is currently churning out 4-5 warships eery year, with huge projects like aircraft carriers and nuclear subs going on parallely. So no Indian yards are infact doing a great job with the lack of technology or lack of funding they have to deal with.
3-Made in India warships are the likes of these

3-And i was not talking of assistance but example, for funding is not enormous for BD like it was for India 2 decades back. And you are going the import way and doing ToT for inhouse ship building like us.

Jako if you want a job as a sales rep for indian tech speak to those that are buying, we are not.

We are at an early stage of our maritime industry, we acknowledge we have a long way to go and don't pretend at what we are not. Lets take your comments one at a time..

Our plans are at stages:

1. First we are making at KSY LCUs and small inshore patrol crafts, these do not need stealth tech, so in your word the fact that they look like tin cans is fine.

2. Next KSY is going to build patrol vessels in the 650 ton class under license from China these will complement the two sister ships already delivered.

3. This will be followed by local build of modified type 56 corvettes currently under construction in China. As all indications show the construction of the first batch started build early 2012 and should arrive mid to late 2014. KSY will prob start build around 2014-2015.

4. Finally in the next 10-15 years KSY will be building frigates in the 2500-3000 tonne class that will incorporate advanced stealth tech, for which we expect to receive assistance from China and our own research centres.

Can you see the picture, for naval tech we are already receiving assistance from China, and a lot of investments are planned at KSY
For this, indian examples and assistance do not come into the picture. For non-naval maritime work, these are handled by the private yards, who have great links to Korean yards where many Bangladeshi's have worked.

Getting back to what you say about indian ability to produce well designed vessels, no one is denying they are good, what we don't want to do is take examples of indian public yards. We need to follow our own way and learn from our own mistakes, finally we tend to see Chinese and Korean yards as more efficient, and for political/strategic reasons easier to work with.
