Saudi Arabia is using anti-Iran propaganda as part of its policy to fuel sectarian tension in order to stop pro-democracy movements in the Kingdom, an analyst tells.

In an exclusive interview with Press TV on Monday, London-based political commentator, Zayd al-Isa, said the rapidly spreading uprising which erupted in oil-rich Eastern Province in 2011 has prompted the “desperately worried” Saudi rulers to try and deepen the Sunni-Shia divide.

“[Riyadh wants to] demonstrate to its people that it is involved in confronting and combating the serious, perilous and extensile threat coming from the Shias and namely coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the expert noted.

This, Isa explained, aims to put anti-regime protesters in a corner and to “portray them as people who are standing against the regime which has tried its best to portray itself as the standard-bearer or the defender of Sunni Islam.”

The analyst said Saudis now see well through the maneuver, given the regime’s staunch support for Western-backed dictators in Egypt, Tunisia, and Yemen.

Isa pointed to the continuation of demonstrations in Saudi Arabia despite the regime’s violent crackdown, arresting activists, and labeling protests as anti-Islamic by “the Wahhabi-Salafi establishment.”

“All that has spectacularly failed to deter the people,” he concluded.

btw, i am not in favour of democracy in KSA, but in favour of fair participation of KSA in Muslim world's geopolitics. This post may count in false move on chess. KSA is most important for us because of holy places and we don't want any kind of war games there so KSA shouldn't kill Muslims by supporting Syrian rebels because of other sectarian government after all "ALL MUSLIMS". They all can manage to unite in Doha against Syria but has no willing to do so in favour of Myanmar Muslims.

:omghaha: Does this PressTV (never knew there was a free press in Iran, LOL) also publish a newspaper? If so it might be used as good toilet paper for some people.

False. KSA doest not need to propagandize anything. Arabs and Iranians never liked each other since ancient times. Nor did any other Semitic people like them at large. There are historical, cultural, religious, linguistically etc. motives for that. Exact same sentiments are found in all the Arab world by large and it has only grown since the Mullah's took power in 1979 given all the negative interference. Anyway I don't give a crap about Iran as long as they don't meddle in Arab affairs. Since they do that continuously I am forced to have a opinion about them although I would rather like not to have one at all.

Secondly I just spoke with a Shia Saudi living in Khobar and he shared the same sentiments despite following Sistani. Speaks volumes. We had a friendly chat and reached to the same conclusion = the current Iranian regime is not favorable for the Arab world by any means no matter how much they pretend to care for the plight of Arabs and use that to fool Shias in general.

Why do you assume that people who do not like your foreign policies are Iranian regime's supporters?

I respect your way of life, but your country has interfered in many countries. US destroyed Iraq and its now destroying Syria and your country, let me say it nicely, has not been against it.

Iran exercises far less influence than Saudi Arabia and other GCC; therefore, you have a greater responsibility.

Huh ! Can you prove that bold part , or its just another as usual assumption ? KSA have only its influence in GCC , and In all terms every nation is itself responsible first whatever happening in their country , Specially their dictators are responsible of all wars in the region , They all have tried their so called moderate ideologies and ruled for 40 to 50 years , but never achieved anything , just compare this with GCC , atleast they have better economy and progress rate as compare to other regional countries , So It would be better if you guys just don't play your holy muslims cards everywhere , cuz its don't suits geo-political situations.

If you do not read news, its not my fault. NATO countries are arming rebels and Alqaeda is benefiting from it.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/15/w...rms-sent-to-syrian-rebels.html?pagewanted=all

And this from their sources.

An important reason GCC countries are successful is because they are more like US petrol stations.

Iran on the other hand would have had a better economic condition if it had had relations with the US. Iranians are less conservative and they would go well with the US, but they don't do so.

The holy card is abused by GCC. They arm extremists like they did in 1979 at US's behest. They fund extremist parties in Pakistan.

Again this is not against their way of life, it is a critique of their policies. They accepted the Syrian opposition that demands democracy in Syria. This is just a cruel joke.

Very old Resources and Claims , when many things were unclear . You even cannot prove your other claims , Seems like you read too much anti GCC news and consider everything as an ultimate truth . Are you even a Pakistani national ? or just having some fun in the name of Pakistan ?
As far as your previous claims are concerned , then have a look please ..

KSA doesn't need democracy as long as it is rich and can provide for it's citizens. Iran should stop supporting terrorists against GCC and Israel.

Israel is a terrorrist state built on land stolen from Palestinians. And your correct about KSA not being a democracy, so why are they being hypocrites towards Assad? atleast Assad doesn't force women to wear burka's. It would be great if people were honest and came out and made it official. Saudi Arabia and Israel are allies.

One thing is fore sure; the whole region is scared by Iran. Turkey is forging an deal with the Kurds + Israel, the Persian Gulf countries who are protected by the US + of course the role of NATO in the region. And while they are keep buying western military equipment as if it is water, Iran manages to 'take over' countries by establishing relatively small, yet powerful proxies.

Old sources? Please feel free to believe what you like. Its a free world.

remember 1979? US and GCC are destroying Syria just to counter Iran. Saudi Arabia is US's oldest ally in the M.E and they are doing their job.

Yes the question of being a pakistani, Pakistan runs in my blood and I can't do anything even if I wanted to. Being a Pakistani does not mean I have to side with the oppressors.

An independent Pakistan would never be someone's pet which it has been.

When Iraq was invaded, both Iran and Saudis remained silent. Now when Syria is being destroyed, GCC is accepting the Democratic Syrian opposition. A cruel joke.

As far as your Pakistani nationality is concerned then I asked it after reading your posts in another thread , and as far as siding with oppressor is concerned then you are already siding with them .. Here the question is not of believing whatever have been reported , but believing in at least which make some sense . You are crying on not taking stance against Iraq Invasion , Do you know how poorly Saddam had ruled Iraq? Even Iraqis were against him and many of them theirselves had sided with U.S then how come any other country's interference had been considered a positive step at then ?
