An example of GCC “investment” in Pakistan (and this doesn’t mean to say they haven’t done a lot but they also know the state of Pakistan):

Back in the early 60s the RSAF was looking for its next fighter and they asked the PAF for help.

The competitors were the F-104, F-5 and English electric Lightening - the PAF after evaluation recommended the F-5 first, F-104 second and Lightening last.

Guess which fighter the Saudis bought?? The Lightening


Then, in the 70s the Saudi-US ties got closer and the first thing the US recommended was them to buy F-5s to replace their older fighters.. the Saudis bought dozens of them right away.

they will invest if they see seriousness on our part. most of our ministries are run by incompetent, corrupt idiots. ministers are incompetent and corrupt as well. there is no ease of doing business, and no stability in policies (this continued in IK's time as well, and now, its somehow worse).

The Arabs throw money only at things where they can make more money. here, they will just loose it all.
