Again, you go off without proof. Are you sure millions die each year from rabies the World over, let alone India? And you think PETA has the ability to save every stray dog in this World?

Furnish some proof to substantiate your claims and maybe then I'll believe you.

i don't need to furnish any proof here,,,just use google and u will see how correct i am.
do u know how many injections are needed if a rabid dog bites u and cost of each vial??search that too and it will give u an idea why poor people cannot get the rabies vaccine.

and also search the chances of ur survival once a rabid dog bites u and u don't get vaccinated within 10 days.

yeah----answer is NIL

In short, you have no proof for your claims.

"Until fairly recently, this kind of commitment was lacking in India, where 20 000 of an estimated global annual 55 000 rabies deaths occur, three-quarters of them in rural areas. One of the reasons the disease has been neglected is because “deaths are scattered” and never amount to the kind of crisis that get epidemics top billing."

Rabies: 100% fatal, but 100% preventable too - The Times of India

"Until 1998 the population of stray dogs in India was kept under check by civic authorities, by impounding and euthanizing unclaimed dogs. Because of pressure from animal welfare activists, this approach was replaced by a policy of animal birth control, also referred to as the ABC Programme. In this program, stray dogs are impounded, surgically sterilized and released back into the area from where they were picked up. The success of this program hinges on the sterilization of 70% of the strays in a given geographic area within 6 months, before the next reproductive cycle begins, otherwise the entire effort is negated. This target is difficult to achieve, given the large number of strays and the limited resources. Hence the success of the animal birth control program in controlling the stray dog population is a subject of dispute and doubt"

So 20,000 is the same as millions? When confronted with proof, see how your presumptions fall apart?

Now be kind enough to find out what exactly is PETA's position in this regard and how many times they have prevented the Authorities from doing their duty.

.
@he-man they are perfectly within their rights to do so. Now if you want to comment upon our priorities as a community and society then that's a different thing.

Now be kind enough to find out what exactly is PETA's position in this regard and how many times they have prevented the Authorities from doing their duty.

Anyone who joins PETA should be skinned alive. Worthless chimps running about screaming for rights for chimps.

did u read the second paragraph??
maneka gandhi stopped the killing of stray dogs compounding the problem under the pressure of fucking peta.

the problem is we account to 36% of rabies death world wide.................u die within 1-2 days of detection, thats how fucked up this disease is.
my point was how full of shit an organization like peta is that its killing thousands of indians every year just to save useless stray dogs

Very well. You refuse to understand then. I have no problems with that. I will continue in my quest. Good luck with yours.

u got owned pretty bad here.

at least u gained some knowledge, time well utilized

@Indischer Umm..I wouldn't trade a single Indian for a million stray mongrels.

It's not PETA's wish either. They stress on ethical treatment of animals, which we as Humans are capable of. Thousands of strays are culled on the mere suspicion that they may be vectors for Rabies. PETA stresses for better screening procedures. The dogs that do undergo castration undergo the procedure without anesthetics. It's little things like these that PETA takes an exception to. It's not stupid to advocate for rabid dogs to be spared. In fact, PETA regularly culls a lot of pets that come it's way that don't get re-adopted. Just that the procedures are more painless on the poor animals.

He-Man's half-baked assertions that PETA and Maneka Gandhi are somehow responsible for India's rabies problem is amusing and stupid at the same time.

What's there to get owned? You don't provide a shred of proof over PETA's involvement in India's rabies problem, refuse to accept any point of view other than your own self-righteous one, and are sneaky enough to go on a personal diatribe against those who disagree with your opinions. Pretty apparent who blows a fuse when they're close to get owned, don't you think?

.
As I have read it's private money and could be use for any purpose but think for a second how many poor people could get benefits from it. Or if you charge money on visiting this could also help :coffee:

AHEMMM.. PETA endorses stonewalling of any cancer drug tests on animals.

PETA Should Rethink Its Campaign Against Animal Research : The Intersection

This is a anthropocentric world, a humano-centric one in fact, let these hippi wonks cry me a river. I'd like to see them stop us, we've systematically dealt with all the strays that once polluted our colony.

It's just PETA's wish, and with good donations, they have set up some infrastructure in many cities to take care of such forsaken animals as they see fit. They haven't done anything unconstitutional, so how are they bothering you? Have they unlawfully prevented the authorities from carrying out their duty? Provide proof that PETA was somehow responsible for the death of a Human and then sermonize me about lack of money and what not.
