The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to constitute a special force for security of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the province.

Official sources talking to media informed that two thousand and six hundred security personnel would be inducted for this purpose.

The process of recruitment would be completed by December this year costing ninety-six million rupees.

The force would be properly trained and equipped to successfully fulfill their responsibility in a proper way. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has now demonstrated, though belatedly, an aggressive ambition to draw its share from political benefits of the landmark China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) for the province.

Previously, it wasted a lot of precious time in needlessly picking holes in the CPEC when it was required to concentrate on it and get what was due to it. However, the change of mind occurred only when Chief Minister Pervez Khattak paid a visit to China as part of a delegation. After that, he suddenly abandoned even slight opposition or voicing reservations over the CPEC. This was a positive transformation.

His attacking views, which he repeatedly publicly voiced, had caused unprecedented angst to China. While the federal government as well as China kept insisting that the CPEC was inclusive, aimed at the good of entire Pakistan, Khattak painted it as something against KP. The Awami National Party also held the same opinion. A total of nine projects that the KP government now wants to be included in the CPEC may earn the approval of the federal administration as well as China, but unless they were greatly pushed, physical work on them is unlikely to kick-start in the next several months because a considerable time is required for the procedural requirements and paperwork.

Nawaz and Co were not being upfront about CPEC projects for each province hence the voices of dissent arose from KPK. Secrecy by PMLN gov was the main issue. This article's claim that there was delay in those projects, well KPK wasn't even informed of those projects so how could there be delays!?

China's move was very smart, after Chinese ambassador meeting with IK. Direct intervention, told NS that CMs of all provinces will be invited to China and matters resolved with open declaration of CPEC projects in KPK. Now NS or Development minister can't cancel any of those projects in KPK!

Good analysis...

Yes, i agree. Smart move by the Chinese. They will have to figure out how to get things done by our mostly incompetent politicians.

I'm really glad to see KP taking full benefit of the opportunities this CPEC initiative has provided.

I have followed CPEC from early days and seen PTI struggle to turn CPEC in to kalabagh dam because N was behind it.

There was no secrecy, KPK in first 3 years didn't take CPEC seriously while Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan did. Only when CPEC projects in other provinces were under construction then PTI decided to come on board. Now projects will start and complete in next KPK government which can be PTI or someone else. Unless PTI win next time in KPK, someone else will rightly take credit and all they will have to show will be Tsunami tree program.

The Chinese folks appear to be dead efficient at working with "politicos". What looks like one of their recent achievements might be BD PM, the very embodiment of the Indian proxies!!!!

Eh, 3 years, really??? 21 April 2015 (Chinese President visit) to now is how many years? :victory1:

As for secrecy, Ehsan Iqbal said in middle of 2016 that CPEC agreement is confidential

@Bold

There is still secrecy, no one knows how much of it is FDI and how much of it are loans. It is due to this secrecy that Indians have been claiming all sorts of BS like 40% ROI/ROE, or that the they are all loans at 20% interest.

Even now no one knows how much Pakistan is going to profit from these projects or projected toll collection. All we hear is that CPEC is a game changer without any statistics being provided.

KP should start right now.providing security is one of their key responsibility.

Now that KPK have signed dozen CPEC projects, do you think they did without knowing fully what it is? Chinese were pissed at PTI for making CPEC controversial in early stages.

I reckon you weren't following the news updates. Every province had concerns regarding CPEC benefits to their Provinces except Punjab.

Only KPK had objections because of PTI. All other 3 provinces already signed CPEC project before KPK.

Chinese president visit was delayed because of dharnas. Behind the scenes work on projects already started. Now KPK have signed but it will take another year to actually start work on them and will complete in next government. By 2014 work on many CPEC projects was well under way.

PTI didn't take CPEC seriously early on for political reasons, its a fact.

As i said in my previous post there is still secrecy as nothing has been made public, no stats nor figures to show how actually will CPEC benefit Pakistan financially or if the Chinese money is a loan or FDI

Please list which CPEC projects were well underway by 2014?
