Kolkata shows respect to Bangladesh language martyrs

Since Bangladesh is a Muslim country showing tribute to statues is forbidden . So Bangladeshis show tribute to Shahid Minar, a non human statue but since Indian Bangla state is Hindu majority state they show respect to idols / human statues representing a Bangladeshi woman carrying a dead Bangladeshi man who was killed during language movement by Pakistani police.

Yesterday was 21st February. A Historic day for Bangladesh and Bengalis of India. On this day Pakistani police killed many Bangladeshis on street who protested against Jinnah's declaration of Urdu as only national language, they demanaded Bangla to be state language.

West Bengal's 80% population are from the land of Bangladesh. These folks are called 'Bangal' because they came from Bangladesh. They have also recently changed the name of their state to 'Bangla'. Now in every rally Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal call her state as 'Bangla' instead of Pashchim Banga. One day they will merge with their original country Bangladesh but due to religious tension between Bengali Hindus and Muslims it will still take some more time.

Apart from religion Bangladeshis and Indian Bangalis are very close.

All depends on the economic growth of BD versus India/W Bengal.
If BD becomes substantially richer than India/W Bengal then a good portion of the Hindus in W Bengal would not stand in the way of a merger with BD.
W Bengal is easily absorbed into BD as 25% of the population are Muslims and both Muslim and Hindu Bengali's generally get along.
