Hopefully this bastard also gets a death sentence, there have been entirely too many of these school stabbings in China, this isn't even the first.

As for gun laws, what is acceptable and enforceable in China would not be acceptable and enforceable in the US. Comparisons are indeed inevitable, but the US chose a different path than China when it came to gun laws a long long time ago, and that path cannot be taken back. We will have to find our own way to keep guns out of the hands of people like this, but taking them away totally is just not an option, nor one that I support.

Americans will have to decide that for themselves whether they will revise the gun law or not. After so many cases where mentally ill people start shooting around in highschools or universities in recent years nothing has changed. People are still allowed to own from a simple pistol to a riffle or shotgun and sometimes news pop up where kids playing with daddy's toys (sometimes loaded) are involved in lethal accidents. Unfortunately sick people are everywhere as human brains are very complicated (far more than animals), there's not much you can do to prevent mentally ill people to cause a massacre. Nobody would support a society you see in the movie minority report or how the nazi locked the mentally ill or physically disabled. It would be strange for a country with a population of 1.3 bln if there were no crazy people. These 2 incidents in China and US once again shows that making it illegal to own guns can make a difference between life and death. The ~20 American schoolchildren were not so fortunate, luckily this knife attack didn't cause a massacre and the parents are spared from the drama the involved American parents are going through right now. Wish the kids a speed recovery and the American kids rest in peace.

Good point buddy, but America can not change because of its flawed political system. 'The right to bear arm' amendment is an obsoleted amendment that's no longer needed in this modern world. But alas the NRA vote bank is so powerful no politicians in their fair minds are dare to go against it. What's funny is their votes are not even as large as the anti gun groups. Go figure.

Obama has no more political office to run but can he change the amendment? The Newtown case sure helps but can he gather enough votes in the Congress? The answer is no and probably some water downed new gun rule will be enacted.

Same as you i don't think they will ever abolish the gun law. If nothing can be done about it then expect more tragedies to happen in the future. As China's population keeps rising, despite the one child policy, this kind of knife incident is bound to repeat itself. Again people can wonder why did this happen, human brain is extremely complex and we can only ask what drove them to go nuts. Psychological or social issues can trigger people to shock the community.
