KOLKATA: Maoists will extend support to the proposed Lalgarh rally called by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, top Naxal leader Kishenji said today.

"The Maoists will extend full support to the rally (on August nine at Lalgarh in West Midnapore district). The people of Jungle Mahal will protect all those who join the rally," Kishneji said from an undisclosed location.

"This is an apolitical rally under the banner of Santrash Birodhi Mancha (Anti Terror Platform) and we will fully co-operate to see that it is successful," the elusive leader said.

He said the Maoists are supporting the rally because social activists like Swami Agnivesh, Medha Patkar and intellectuals like Bibhash Chakkaraborty "who had stood by the people's movement" would be attending it.

"The people of Lalgarh have always stood against the atrocities by the police and violence," he said.

He alleged that the police and the CPI(M) were conspiring and scaring people against joining the rally.

"Don't trust the police because they will be working for the CPI(M) government. The people of the area will protect you."

He also denied the Maoists' hand in the derailment of the Jnaneswari Express on May 28 which cost 148 lives.

Strangely, I think if the CPM is thrown out of bengal, the situation will automatically turn normal.

Media is crammed with secret sympathizers of these Maoists and fence-sitting, attention hungry losers who want to capitalize at the cost of the common Indian soldier.

I think we need to weed out the rot that's within the system related to Maoists. Something similar to what PRC did against its opposers. Sometimes we have to emulate the ones we criticize in order to save our own necks.
