Does not matter at this time. The goal is still the same regardless of how. If there was a secret deal between China and NKR that involved a trade -- a no nuke NKR for Chinese nuclear protection -- this would make NKR a further burden on China. Let them have that deal. The hope that somehow NKR would economically reform and be on the same stature as SKR is essentially pie-in-the-sky. In the end, the US-SKR alliance remains and will only get stronger.

I think China has been telling the DPRK to not further pressure the status quo. A nuclear capable DPRK is already annuls the presence of US troops, in the final analysis. Hence, their existence is rendered useless.

I do not think China will ever tell them through back-channels to get rid of nuclear capability they have already achieved. The problem China sees now is perhaps more economic than political. The reason the DPRK has agreed to such a resolution is probably because they see the state system to be secured.

Basically, China is showing the DPRK how to become a nuclear Israel (in a good way for China's national interests) rather than a nuclear poor country.

Of course, we will never know the actual game plan by any sides to the issue. So, just guessing.

Really? So North Korea should have no complaints about U.S. and South Korea training since North Korea has nukes. Should take no training off the list of North Korea's demands then.
