বিএনপির চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়া ‘খড়কুটোর মতো’ রামপাল ইস্যুকে আঁকড়ে ধরে বাঁচার শেষ চেষ্টা করছেন বলে মন্তব্য করেছেন আওয়ামী লীগের যুগ্ম সাধারণ সম্পাদক মাহবুব উল আলম হানিফ। একই সঙ্গে সরকারকে পরিবেশবান্ধব ও জনবান্ধব বলে আখ্যা দেন হানিফ।

আজ বুধবার বিকেলে ধানমন্ডিতে আওয়ামী লীগ সভানেত্রীর রাজনৈতিক কার্যালয়ে খালেদা জিয়ার সংবাদ সম্মেলনে দেওয়া বক্তব্যের জবাবে আওয়ামী লীগের পক্ষ থেকে হানিফ এসব কথা বলেন।

রামপাল পরিবেশ বিনষ্টকারী কোনো বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্র নয় দাবি করে মাহবুব উল আলম হানিফ বিএনপির চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়াকে উদ্দেশ করে বলেন, ‘ইতিমধ্যে জনগণ থেকে খালেদা জিয়া ও বিএনপি বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে গেছেন। তাই জনগণের কিছুটা কাছে যাওয়ার জন্য আপনি নতুন একটা ইস্যু খোঁজার চেষ্টা করেছেন। সেই ইস্যুটা হচ্ছে রামপাল বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্র। খালেদা জিয়া আপনি ডুবন্ত মানুষের মতো খড়কুটো আঁকড়ে ধরে ভাসার যে চেষ্টা করছেন, এই রামপাল ইস্যু নিয়ে আপনার ভাসার কোনো সুযোগ নেই। আপনার রাজনীতি বহু আগেই ডুবে গেছে। আপনি নিজেই তা ডুবিয়ে দিয়েছেন।’


মাহবুব উল আলম হানিফ বলেন, ‘সরকার তথ্য-উপাত্ত বিশ্লেষণ করেই রামপালে বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্র করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে সরকার। সেখানে পরিবেশের বিষয়টি গভীরভাবে বিচার-বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে। জনগণকে আশ্বস্ত করতে পারি, পরিবেশের ক্ষতি হয়, সুন্দরবনের ক্ষতি হয়—এ ধরনের ভুল পদক্ষেপ এই সরকারের নেওয়ার সুযোগ নেই। কারণ আমাদের সরকার, জনগণের সরকার।’ আওয়ামী লীগকে পরিবেশবান্ধব সরকার অভিহিত করে তিনি বলেন, ‘যে সরকারের প্রধানমন্ত্রী পরিবেশ রক্ষায় চ্যাম্পিয়ন অব দ্য আর্থ পুরস্কারে ভূষিত হয়, সেই সরকার পরিবেশের ক্ষতি হয়, এমন সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে পারে না।’

গতকাল এক অনুষ্ঠানে নেতা-কর্মীদের বর্তমান অবস্থা বর্ণনা করতে গিয়ে বিএনপির মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর কাঁদার বিষয়ে হানিফ বলেন, ‘আপনার একজন কর্মী ঢাকায় রিকশা চালাচ্ছেন বলে আপনি আবেগতাড়িত হয়ে গেছেন। আপনার কি মনে আছে ২০০১ থেকে ২০০৬ সাল আওয়ামী লীগের ২৬ হাজার নেতা-কর্মীকে হত্যা করা হয়েছিল। তখন আপনার মনে মানবাধিকার জেগে ওঠেনি। আপনাদের কর্মীরা তো ঢাকা রিকশা চালিয়ে বেঁচে আছেন। আর আমাদের ২৬ হাজার নেতা-কর্মীদের আপনাদের সন্ত্রাসীদের হাতে প্রাণ দিতে হয়েছে।’


খালেদা জিয়া এখন রামপাল ইস্যু নিয়ে ভারতবিরোধী অবস্থান নিয়েছেন কি না, সাংবাদিকদের এমন প্রশ্নের জবাবে হানিফ বলেন, ‘খালেদার জন্মই হয়েছে ভারতবিরোধিতা দিয়ে। পাকিস্তান কখনো ভারতের পক্ষে হতে পারে? খালেদা জিয়া তো পাকিস্তানের আইএসআইয়ের সৃষ্টি। এঁদের রাজনীতি ভারতবিরোধী। খালেদা জিয়া বহুবার প্রমাণ করেছেন যে তিনি পাকিস্তানের এজেন্ট। বিএনপি এখনো আইএসআইয়ের দ্বারা পরিচালিত। কিন্তু তখনই অবাক হতে হয়, যখন দেখা যায় ভোল পাল্টে তারা ভারতের পদলেহন করতে যায়, তখন মানুষের মনে বিভ্রান্ত সৃষ্টি হয়। রামপাল বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্র নিয়ে দলীয়ভাবে আরও তথ্য ও উপাত্ত জনগণকে জানানো হবে।

He is one of the weird ones who hate India but like AL. It's probably because he is a minority that isn't Hindu.

AL was pro-India after Independence (Bangladesh was a vassal state back then until military coup) and only recently has Hasina turned to extreme pro-India. This is only to stay at power through the backing of RAW.

As for being the gorilla in the room, Zia and Ershad did quite well without giving a damn about the gorilla.

Im seeing my campaign against Khaleda also seeing lights lately. It just started recently. I foresee her disaster also.

You can tell this "Patriot Bangladeshi" that he's delusional. First, if it weren't for India, he wouldn't have a Bangladesh to call himself a "Patriot Bangladeshi" in the first place. Second, Bangladesh military impresses no one.

He is stating the obvious. India and Bangladesh relations have too many benefits for one to antagonize the other. Bangladesh knows how to handle India, as well. It's playing a smart game of using China to play off India. As for Pakistan, no one in Bangladesh cares.
