Ok valid point...now can you tell me what would be done once kerala agrees to abide by the 1970 treaty....what would happen to the people you say will be affected now due to the constrution of the dam?

If and when Kerala agrees to abide by the 1970 Agreement then it is morally binding on the TN Govt to agree to the construction of the new dam as it will assuage the fears of the downstream people.

The technicalities can be worked out once the satisfactory mutual ground is reached.

Our river..our money...our dam...our control.

& Yes our politician...that Achutha Menon..was incompetent to validate this treaty in 1970, but its the duty of the current generation to rectify any mistakes made by the previous generation..but to be fair to him he validated this treaty before the first cracks appeared in the dam in 1979.

Its not so simple harpoon.

Intra state agreements have their own constitutional validity and it is legally binding upon Kerala to comply with it.

Siruvani reservior and dam is in kerala

They may be in Kerala, but the roads to it are in Tamil Nadu and the dam is controlled by TWAD.

Why did he become a false flagger ? He goes against the opinion of Keralites ?

it is banned because you can not make a movie that might interven with the judgement of a case that is in the court.
that is called contempt of court.

As if juries are watching this movies .............

The film passed censor board ...............banning of film shows how intolerate tamilans & its politicians are

malayalis has to die to give you water what sort of demand is this?

No one wants the Malayalis to die. We just want the GoK to agree to the 1970 Agreement it signed with GoTN and everything can go forward.

The only reason GoTN not agreeing to the new dam is because GoK is not agreeing to comply with 1970 Agreement in case a new dam is built.

.
until the dam construction is over, will you support the lively hood of the TN farmers who depend on that dam of livelyhood.
the dam is quite stable, just don't comment based on possible earth quake which humans do not have the technology to predict.
if a earth quake happens there is no way even a brand new dam can withstand the force of the nature.

i am not saying that the court is weak, but its contempt of court to publish something that is a case before a bench of judges.
don;t you see even the PM does not comment in favour of one party when the case is in court.
i pity your understanding of the judicial system

We have supported you for more that a century on the basis of agrremnt which was made by madras presidency which was stronger at that time with weak travancore govt for 999 years

have you heard such agreemnet before when the life span of the dam which is made of lime & surky is only 60 years but agreemnt is for 999 years

Even after independence we have respected the agreement and is giving water to TN.

Not only from mullaperiyar.you are getting watre from Neyyar dam and parabikulam& aliyar project

You people are not ready consider human lifes which are endagered for more than 60 years ..........now this is considered seriously beacuse now the mullaperiayar falls to zone 3 and chances for earthquake is high.

i appreciate here the efforts taken by former minister premachandran to bring the condition of dam to public

An earthquake measuring more than 6 will result in failure of mullaperiayr dam resulting falure of idukki dam in down stream taking away 3.5 million people with it ........4 districts including the cochin city will be under water..............as mentioned in the article that regions saw 20 minor earthqauakes from july

Do you think you will get water after the dam breaks.....you will never ever get it..........

Dont suport some politcians with knowing what is at stake...............we want our life we are only asking that.........

This Site explains the grave situation Kerala is facing. must read.

Mullaperiyar - In search of truth

This blog is the final product of my dedicated research on the controversial Mullaperiyar Dam since 2006. This dam constructed in 1895, in lime surkhi mortar when dam engineering was at infancy, now hangs like a Damocles Sword over the lives and properties of millions of people in the Central Kerala region. Please be united to avert the doomsday!

please give evidence to your claim

mr Oomen chandy has repetedly stated that kerala is willing to give same amount of water what they are giving now

.........................

Please why don't Keralites get to know that there was another agreement, a renewal of the older agreement, which was signed in 1970 by the then CM of Kerala Mr. Achutha Menon and stop harping about the Maharaja's agreement ?

.
I cant be repeating this to every Malayali who logs in every 10 minutes. Please read the entire thread to see that all your claims have been addressed. It is only the obstinacy of the GoK that is preventing the forward movement of this issue.

Sorry , call us cynical. We can't just keep our blind faith in the mere words of your CM.

We want a legally binding contractual agreement ie., Kerala Govt's nod to comply with the 1970 Agreement post the construction of new dam which will vest us with the control of the new dam.

All Keralites want is a new dam which will ensure the safety of the downstream people. How does it matter if TN controls the dam as in present ?

.
In between all the petty politics, bickering and hatred, i hope the 3.5 million people downstram get spared. I dont want to even think about watching a news on tv where i see my family members there getting washed away to arabian sea.
god bless

.
Well all the best.

If that is the route you guys are going to take instead of negotiations resulting a win-win solution, then I'm afraid hot-heads on our side too will chart their course from denying vegetables, fruits, electricity and other essential commodities. A very ugly situation.

And taking a hike with a legally binding agreement is not that simple as it sounds.

Then it will lead to a situation where keral govt not only has to reconsider th mullperiayar but all the water sharing agreement..........

Let's hope it does not go there as both sides have plenty to suffer.

We Tamils and Mallus have lived together as bros for 1000s of years without a single war and we should not let this become a source of hatred between us.

As some one explained you before the dam bleongs to us.dam is built in our land the catchment area belongs to our area and we are not ready to give control to TN any more............the agreemnt will be signed by a mutual understanding............this time not for peanuts........
Control of all dams in kerala should lie with kerala govt ,kerla govt should conduct a study to find from which all rivers Tn is stealing water(diverting water without proper ligal contrat) and take action to prevent it........

Good luck going to court, making the 1970 Agreement (signed by Kerala CM) void and taking control.

We have legal control of Mullaiperiyar, granted by the Maharaja of Travancore and renewed by the GoK in 1970.

As for other dams, if you have the legal control and inspite of that TN is controlling it you are welcome to tae them back. If no, tough luck.
