It’s a big victory and good news for India. The Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday confirmed that Father Tom Uzhunnalil has been rescued. Catholic priest Tom Uzhunnalil was abducted by the Islamic State in Yemen last year. “Muscat has secured the release of the Indian priest who was abducted during a deadly attack by Islamist militants in Yemen, Oman’s official news agency said,” as per news agency AFP.
Tom Uzhunnalil was abducted during a terrorist raid on a Missionaries of Charity-run old age home in Aden in Yemen. The abduction happened on March 4, 2016. At least 16 people including four nuns were killed in the attack. Thomas Uzhunnalil belongs to Ramapuram village of Kerala’s Kottayam district.

Earlier, in the month of March this year, Thomas Uzhunnalil made an emotional appeal for a rescue in a five-minute video that was posted on YouTube.
