go to malabar especially rural areas - it looks what kottayam or central travancore looked 50 years back. what did they benefit? where were the funds?
Trivandrum is a beautiful city. but, for centuries and even after kerala formation, Trivandrum city is kept alive with Government funds. after knowing that almost 50% of Government income comes from Kochi region alone and the spending is on Trivandrum city and certain pockets. how can we accept this hegemony?
When 4 flyovers at Vyttila,Kundannoor,Edapally which would've been completed in 1990s is not YET even in project stage, who is responsible? there is a fierce Trivandrum lobby who have tasted the taste of power and lobbying and they want to slow down every other city in Kerala.
for eg: Kochi city is perhaps at least 30% bigger than Trivandrum.but, keeping city limit as of 1950s and making nearby kakkanad, vazhakkala, kalamassery etc etc as different "cities" Trivandrum lobby is destroying Kochi.
hell, during kerala state formation, Cochin raja and malabar joins by free will and Kochi was supposedly the capital but travancore rajah bullied it to have the capital at southern tip of kerala called trivandrum.
the issues of beuerocrats, secreteriat employees in 21st century wants to have High court in Trivandrum!
you may whine about shifting funds to malabar. look what malabar got? they are developing and even have rail connectivity before travancore got under madras presidency. after joining with kerala, cochin and malabar are growing by its own. now that leauge ministers are controlling the power, it may irk many.
I have met online Trivandrum warriors thick heads and moderators who edits cochin wiki page vandalizing it, deleting kochi pages from SSC and brutally targeting kochi/malabar forumers. Trivandrum is a city that thrives on funds, patronage from the city dwellers who obsessively wants to kill the rival(Cochin).
I am sorry, but if Kerala's capital get shifted to THRISSUR,KOCHI or even KOTTAYAM will work better. Heck, Trivandrum city will get slow development, but that city can grow into a pensioners paradise. as of now, it is a bane for rest of kerala.
I believe Trivandrum got more than it deserves. it is not worth spending Kochi's and rest of Kerala's money to keep alive a village like city(ofcourse beautiful..but boring as in a island).
