Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Friday visited Command and Staff College in Quetta, said an ISPR press release.
Gen Kayani, while addressing the participants of Command and Staff Course, said for meaningful and sustainable progress, a nation has to strike the right balance between the requirements of development and defence. He said it was the duty of the armed forces to maintain adequate capabilities and readiness to achieve the tasks assigned. The Army Chief said: “No army operates in a vacuum; rather it gains support of the nation to conduct its tasks in a manner that it contributes to the fulfillment of national polices, interests and aspirations.”
He urged the participants to serve the nation through excellence in profession, dedication and commitment.
Earlier, on arrival, Quetta Corps Commander Lt-Gen Alam Khattak received the COAS.

No, 20 Billion - the needs of the army come before the needs of ordinary Pakistanis - the peasants are revolting - you ain't seen nothing yet -

Oh, you just don't understand, we have to first be able to protect Pakistan, to ensure that there is something to develop
Wait a minute, we're talking about balancing funding for an army that can't kill off TTP ragheads, or provide security for citizens of Pakistan

Oye Duffer! Security is not the job of Army, that's the job of the police or some other institution

Sir but I am contributing positively here. Current budget is 6 Billion. I am suggesting a lot of positive contributions. 4 Billions to be exact

Officially Declared - $6-7 Billions + (min) $2-3 on nuclear forces (as per many reports) = APPROX. $10 Billions!
