It never was dead and the development is keep going on, it is only dead for operational LCAs in it's current form. Now after IL 76 were used as testbeds, the next step of the engine development will be, to use it on a fighter for testflights, although I would prefer a twin engine fighter first (possibly a Mig 29) and not an LCA. Any technical problem will cause a crash and that would hit LCA as well!

I seriously dont have any Idea why GTRE is taking such a long time to develop GTX35-VS ?? Following are the Aircraft Engines it made.

GTX37-14U
GTX37-14UB
GTX-35

And Now GTRE is after K-9, K-9+ and K-10 Engines. Seriously whats wrong with the DRDO?
