because we are yet to build an engine testing platform.
It is a testbed aircraft of the Gromov Fight Test Institure from where aircraft are hired by foreigm
companies to flight-test their new aero engines.
A 4-engine plane like IL-76 is chosen because even if the new under-testing engine fails/stalls, the other
3 engines can get the plane home safety.
If you must know, China flight tested their WS-10 engine in the same way onboard a Russian-owned IL-76 jet aircraft.
Whats the difference between the previous tests and this?
Sorry, the WS-10A is tested onboard a Russian made IL-76 aircraft but never Russian owned. It was owned by China AVIC CTFE. All our test is completed by ourselves.. Good for your kaveri engine but please don't talk nonsense for others.

Does it matter who owned it ? If the testing was conducted on a Russian aircraft owned by Russia, does it mean Russians did it ?
Its good that you correct the previous wrong statement. I don't like people to say wrong things. Thanks you!Hello,
Yes it was Russian-built but Chinese-owned IL-76.
Btw, there were many Indians present during the testing and even onboard the IL76 and the engine was
tested according to the guidelines specified by Indian cos.
Not much, just that more tests were done and that this testphase is finished now, but it doesn't tell us much about the performance of the engine, or how much it was improved in the recent years. Just a status update, nothing more.
Of cos it matter. This mean you are in control of your own flight test schedule. Fasten the test and no need to subject to foreign condition. I am just speaking the truth. The plane tested for WS-10A is owned by Chinese CTFE.

Depends on what platform it will be used, for LCA it's not useful, for AURA it could.Do you think there is any scope of development with the intial core of kaveri, or will we have to go with the kabini core?
India leases a nuclear submarine owned by Russia. Are you saying, we have no control on the sub and its schedule. I rest my case.
@Beast: Fact remains. China tested its engine on a Russian platform and all this talk of scheduling, control is beating around the bush.
If you buy a car from a vendor. Does the car belong to you or the storeowner after the purchase?
