MUZAFFARABAD (updated on: June 17, 2008, 17:19 PST): Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Muhammad Yasin Malik has warned that if the ongoing dialogue process between India and Pakistan failed, the situation could provoke the Kashmiris into launching a new revolution.
He was speaking as chief guest at a function which was held amid irksome power fluctuations at a local hotel under the aegis of a non-governmental organisation, HOPE.
Malik, who is on a tour to Pakistan, said that the dialogue process had been perceived by the Kashmiris as a ray of hope because "across the globe the conflicts are ultimately resolved through negotiations."
However, he lamented that in the case of Kashmir the breakthrough had not been achieved as yet. "God forbid if this process fails to deliver, the ensuring situation will push the Kashmiris towards a new revolution," he warned.
The JKLF chief called for accelerating the pace of dialogue process "as fast as could make the settlement of Kashmir issue top priority of the governments in Islamabad and New Delhi."
"This will eventually help the people of India, Pakistan as well as Kashmir see the true peace which we are earnestly seeking since long," he said.
