Kashmir - Think the Unthinkable

Have you heard of the word succession? or breakaway state? If India had taken that philosophy it would still be part of the British empire.

I think you mean secession.

The British were an occupying power, we are a democracy.

The British had no historical or cultural links with India, but Kashmir has been a part of Indian history, and played an important role in the development of our culture and civilization.

Those Kashmiris who are not brainwashed by Islamist propaganda, realize that being a part of India is the best option for them and the rest of the world.

Ah right so since democracy means fulfilling the will of the people if the will of kashmiri's is to leave then you will honour that right? Or are you only gonna wave the word democracy around like a totem? Is it only a word you like to wave around to show that you are "better"

Oh and if they disagree with your point of view then they are brainwashed right? Well I could say that you have been brainwashed by the BJP idiots thats why you don't wanna let Kashmir go.

I especially like the whole the "rest of Indian shouldn't let them leave" part. Wonder how many Indians were cheering the south Ossetians.....

Indian democracy means electing a government which:

1. Conforms to the constitution of India
2. Is elected by popular vote within the parameters set by the constitution.

Now we can keep arguing whether is us who are brainwashed or you, or perhaps all of are brainwashed.

Yes, we have every right to bandy about democracy since that is much better form of government that what either Pakistan is able to offer Kashmiris or Kashmiris themselves are capable of running.

The Georgia/Russia conflict has little to do with Kashmir. For a start, the Ossetians are not separating because of religion.

Dude hate to burst your bubble but people in real terms rarely fight for religion. It generally has to to do with physical gain of some sort. Land money etc. religion gets dragged into it. They don't want to be part of India. (You could argue they never wanted to be from the start)

And since they are not happy maybe your "democracy" is not what they want. After all democracy has to set curfews for them. Just so they can't exercise the right to free protest.

Then if Kashmiris are fighting for land or money, they have no case at all. Their land is theirs, and so is their money. On top of that, India spends a disproportionately large amount on the state, keeping in mind that it contributes next to nothing in tax revenue.

Their sole basis for separation from India is a form of xenophobia, deeply infused with religious hatred toward the infidels, who they consider as the source of all their problems. This line of thinking had its origins in Pakistan, and has now taken root in the valley like a fell disease.

This kind of thinking is what keeps them behind the rest of the world and prevents them from achieving any progress. The only tangible progress that they have made is thanks to the efforts of the central government.
Their religious leaders then conveniently foist all the blame onto the "occupiers".

The only leaders these people have got are a bunch of hardliners who think of religion as be all and end all. The ones among these leaders who have not taken up the gun for jehad are conveniently called "moderates" in order to give them some form of acceptability in the wider world.

They have not built any industry, any institutions. An utterly ignorant lot.

Wonder what Geelani and Malik has to say about the above...

That's exactly my point. A kashmiri state is not viable, neither economically, nor ideologically. At best, it will become an extension of Pakistan. At worst, it will become a lawless breeding ground for fundamentalists.

A nation needs visionary leaders. Kashmir has Geelani. Go figure.

'Kashmir can survive independently'

Sun, Aug 24 12:10 AM

"KASHMIR CAN survive as an independent nation," said Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. "Much smaller places are surviving as nations, why can't we?" he asked, explaining the territorial and economic viability of Kashmir as an independent country.

With thousands of people demanding azadi (freedom) and even President of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah, voicing his support for a debate on "independence" of the state, Farooq said that the voice of the people must be heard. "It is not merely a slogan on the streets; we have discussed this internally and looked at its viability.

We will be a vibrant independent nation," the Hurriyat Conference chief told HT in a telephonic interview on Saturday. He and other Kashmiri leaders are reposing their trust in the "goodwill of their future neighbours, India and Pakistan, once we get our freedom".

"The Indian people have been misled into a belief that Pakistan is behind everything in Kashmir," he said, adding, "Even people like Omar Abdullah have come to realise the ground realities. They can no longer negate it.

"The idea of Kashmiri leadership is to put the idea of independence "before the people of Jammu and Kashmir as it existed in 1947", before it was partitioned, following tribal invasion of the state. "Kashmir is a landlocked place, we know it; but the will of the people cannot be denied and once we are independent, we will survive," Mirwaiz insisted, knowing that India would be offering no concessions, and Pakistan, having its own supporters in the Valley, would be one of the problems to contend with.

Mirwaiz, however, did cite the example of any smaller nation. When Lebanon was mentioned, he chose to keep mum.

Kashmiri's do not accept the constitution of India.

Its really simple.....pakistan was made for muslims....kashmir being muslim should go to pakistan.

Well they have been elctions in AJK for decades, even if there is a military govt in power.

The Georgia/Russia conflict has little to do with Kashmir. For a start, the Ossetians are not separating because of religion.

So if your ethnicity, and language are different its okay to ask for independence..?

Ideologically kashmir will be an islamic country.

Economically kashmir has endless investment opportunity's.

1.Tourism will would bring in millions/billions.
2.Natural resources like wood, minerals, foods ect would also bring in millons/billions.
3.Hydropower could be sold on.
4.The kashmiri disporea would invest millions and bring in foreign expertise.

The list goes on....all we need is to kick the indian's out and kashmir will have a bright future.

What else do you expect him to say?

I would love to hear him once the wind starts blowing the other way...

...."kashmiri state is not viable, neither economically, nor ideologically.":rofl:

You have nothing more but "Islam" and "Kashmiriyat" to keep you together. These apparently are "week" when one looks at history.

Ideologically kashmir will be an islamic country.

Gee... wow...

Economically kashmir has endless investment opportunity's.

Care to elaborate... Oh wait... you already have started with the pompousness...

Tourism will would bring in millions/billions.

Which is among the world's most preferred tourism destination... India or Pakistan?

Natural resources like wood, minerals, foods ect would also bring in millons/billions.

The only mineral in abundance in the valley is mica; this is not in demand right now.

Hydropower could be sold on.

What about the initial capital investment?

The kashmiri disporea would invest millions and bring in foreign expertise.

Once 370 goes, the Indians and the Indian diaspora would invest millions and bring in foreign expertise.

The list goes on....all we need is to kick the indian's out and kashmir will have a bright future.

Once we leave, you have a Taliban rump state in the Valley.

But then, you would like that, won't you?

Will if you can call them "elections"...

Its not.

.
You getting mixedup....the fight in afganistan is a jihad, the fight in kashmir is a jihad...the mehsud gang are crimminal that are attacking pakistan so it is not a jihad.

Oh wow...that's convenient.

Unfortunately, the rules of Jehad aren't what you wish they were.

What else do you expect him to say?
I wonder what else you could say. Thats all you can come up with.

I would love to hear him once the wind starts blowing the other way...

Well, wind has already started blowing, irrespective of your wishes. Time to save home buddy...
