I met Shaykh Imran Hosein last week at an event at our local masjid here in the UK. The lecture was on the Quran and spirituality and it was really good

After he finished, the congregation sat in a semicircle around him and I was amongst them. Everyone had questions relating to end of times.

He got a bit rattled when I asked him why he is so pro-Russia - even after all the killing they did in syria and why he is Anti-Ottoman (bordering on hatred). I said that our beloved Prophet Hazrat MUhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ﷺ foretold us that Istanbul will he conquered by a great sultan and a extremely brave army and all ulema unanimously agree on this. Our local ulema - one of whom is a graduate of Al-Azhar university - all agreed on this point of mine.

Brother Imran Hosein displayed his inflexibility and refusal to change his stance by going back time and time again to the point that why was Hagia Sophia converted to a masjid when the Quran says leave the Christians in their places of worship (churches) and don’t harm them.

He wouldn’t let the discussion continue and became enraged that someone had the audacity to question him and the local ulema agreed on the ahadith sharif which is from Musnad Imam Ahmad Hanbal.

I personally the guy needs to retire. He had a few great theories - on gold currency etc but I believe he has lost it and now is just trying to sell his books. May Allah ta’ala forgive me if I am wrong or have wronged

I knew him personally for many years and I had come to the conclusion that he is not a holistic scholar of Islam, but more akin to a single subject scholar like that in Western academia.

We should always be weary of such single subject scholars, because Islam is a religion which is built on basics and layers of knowledge are added on top of it.

Without strong understanding of Allah swt and Prophet Muhammad saws, everything is like shooting arrows in the dark, and it makes it easy for Non-Muslims to control and influence such people (in this case India and Russia.)

I am surprised he didn’t call you a ‘schoolboy’ as that was his term which he gives for anyone resisting his claims on Constantinople.
