ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to expand the Kashmir Highway from 9th Avenue to Murree Road.

A decision has been also taken to construct an interchange on 7th Avenue. According to sources, the work on PC-1 of the project has begun on the directions of Islamabad Mayor. Two more lanes will be added to the existing road.

The PC-1 is likely to be completed within one month, sources said.

Rawat se airport chowk tk a portion kb expand karen ge??

I think despite the fact Kashmir highway is very wide, I have always faced traffic on that road whenever I had to go to Islamabad.

So it does make a lot of sense but they should focus on pther provinces too, rebuilding Islamabad again n again is not a very good idea when more deserving areas are ignored

.
Expansions
kashmir highway: from golra morh-motorway zero point. (Tender also published by NHA)

7th avenue: addition of interchange.

9th avenue: addition of two more lanes total of 10 lane.

Good decision as 9th is one of the most busy road in Islb after kashmir highway as it is the main avenue connecting ISLB n RWP. But this expansion should have been done with the construction of metro.

You want to remove all of the remaining green belt?

I think the road is wide enough as I believe it has 3 to 5 lanes depending on the section which is more like Motorway standard already.

They need to make more underpasses and bridges to divert smoother flow of traffic and improve the overall traffic entering and exiting Islamabad

7th-9th Avenues are in master plan. And Green belt were destroyed when these avenues were built. Do you remember peshawar mor before the flyover? It was worse than F8 exchange signal jam nowadays. You had to wait 15-30min to cross that signal. 9th is a very busy road and will be congested soon enough. Tough imo addition of one lane on both sides would have been enough, with metro being built fast lane width was compromised.

@Zaki 9th is 6 lane 3 on both sides.

After flyover n metro

Kashmir Highway had been expanded. Only a portion from Golra moor to 26 no is remaining. There is a need of flyover on Golra moor.

Edit: They are talking about road expansion from Zero point to Murree Road.
