No biggie....but irk the mods on a few sensitive topics and the ban-hammer falls swiftest on Indians. In any case, I doubt if many folks here will even get your veiled sarcasm.

Well, god created non kannadigas too, unfair too...I know ! And the balls of them to come to Karnataka...

Anyway, that's plain whining ! No logic to it. Like I said in my previous posts, some kannadigas are disappointed that being a kannadiga isn't enough in world class Bengaluru, and short of violence they can't prove their superiority. I like it how gulf returnee mallus are taking over the grocery business of Bangalore based on hawala money. See what the kannadigas can do when it is not outnumbered and when it's not a soft target like a north indian...they can't do jacks*** about these mostly muslim mallus. They don't even try to pretend about Bangalore's sentiments and give holidays on fridays instead of sundays like the rest of the country, talk in malayalam loudly, act like mallus on the whole. They live and talk like gulf mallu muslims. Why can't karnataka vedike go ballistic on them ? They know repercussions will be more than they can digest. all that herogiri about kannada is applied to only those who don't gang up and go violent in response. Like I said before, pansies..with a grievance ! not language lovers.
Malayali Muslims are not always from Kerala...there are many ethnic groups residing in Karnataka..
Muslims from dakshina Karnataka district(Mangalore) & udupi speak a dialect of Malayalam called 'beary bashe'..Muslims form around 30% in uttara Karnataka district alone,i guess...
And also kodava mappile(Muslims from coorg/kodagu district) mostly speak mainly Malayalam or kodava takk as their mother tongue...

Don't disagree with you..Mallus are more close knit than kannadigas, mallus have unity regardless of religion, more well meshed society...not saying all is hunky dory, but hey...credit where it belongs. Kannadiagas are like the rest of them south indians, tamils and teleguites...they are casteist. this sect...that sect...they don't respect each other. And, worst part, it's out in the open, and it is accepted to be such. I don't like that. How it came to be and why it is so...I don't know. Hardcore kannadigas are bound together by their language and their religion, which mostly is hindu. Kannadiga muslims don't speak kannada in Bangalore...Only the old ones do. The new ones, young ones, speak hindi with you, speak hyderabadi urdu with each other. Why not like they speak malayalam or bengali in kerala or bengal, where language truly knows no bounds ? Cause of that force factor. respecting kannada has become lip service. Only some hindus who think kannada is going to be soon extinct act like bufoons regarding that.
thats because unlike Karnataka, all the religion, caste peoples speak Malayalam as their mother tongue..so you could see more religion/caste bonding in Kerala...
whereas in Karnataka,Christians mostly speak konkani as their mother tongue and Muslims speak urdu,Malayalam(beary bashe),konkani and kodava takk..
and also 'tulu 'in dakshina Karnataka and udupi..konkani in karwar district..telegu in bellary,Tamil in kolar district and Bangalore rural...kodava takk in kodagu district...

I just read all the conversation with Mr. Kalaghoda, and I just have one thing to say.

This is why, one of the reasons Tamil Language chauvinism get as much play as it does, because people like him above, thinks that they are god's gift to Mankind, and has utter contempt for the locals.

Looking at Bengal now, he is lecturing Kannadigas and Tamilians on superiority complex, give me a break. After all the smack talk, then why the hell do people come to Bangalore of they hate Kannadigas so much?

I also heard his remarks about mallu immigrants to Bangalore as well, they should respect Kannada as well.

If you are immigrating to New Zealand, respect the locals, make an effort to learn English and integrate. If you can't, why bother come here.

That guy you guys were conversing with had a massive chip on his shoulder. Or a troll, funny, he was talking about Hindus uniting against Muslims.

according to his logic, Muslims and Christians should absolutely have no respect to Hindus.

Kalaghoda was a seasoned troll. But I've seen many of my North Indian friends calling Southerners as Ravan ke aulaad/Rakshas etc etc. The contempt is kinda perplexing, especially when they know how folks are in their own areas.

Funny thing is, when these Momma's boys go to Western countries, their egos take a battering a lot of them don't pull that in from of Polynesian or white guys here.

I am not letting South Indians off the hook, we got our casteism and stuff.

It is funny, but guys like him go to the West, and whine about racism there. Your North Indian compatriots won't even dare to insult Polynesian guys in New zealand. Because they don't have the balls to do it.

A bunch of Momma's boys, who has their ego inflated. It takes a battering when they go to western countries.

Actually there is similar case in West Bengal also, they do same thing Bengali language because of the pride of having Tagore as a noble prize winner and rich literature. Kannada and Telugus are very welcoming to outsiders in their cities with no trace of paranoia towards Hindi but in Karnataka I noticed Kannadigas are very vocal to implementation of Kannada Language in Bangalore in signboards.
@Bang Galore I read your comments on Hindi, actually, I have dozens of Kannada friends from small towns of Karnataka, even traveled across Karnataka, I couldn't find any trace of fear against Hindi but instead saw sensitivity towards implementation of Kannada when cities like Bangalore are getting cosmopolitan.

again my point stands.

at least Karnataka did not elect a Mamata. It's a bit stupid to criticise Kannadigas on their pride in their language When Bengalis do the same.

Well, I don't find anything wrong in feeling of Kannada people, they only wish cosmopolitan Bangalore looks like Karnataka with Kannada as primary language, the outsiders aren't forced to learn Kannada but they want to ensure Kannada should stay as primary language like implementation of Kannada in every single signboards. Even Bengalis want same thing for Kolkata and try to implement Bengali language everywhere but since Kolkata couldn't emerge during communist rule, its not Bangalore.

Look, I am not here to force any language.

But it looked a bit ridiculous, when Kalaghoda was whining about Kannada language chauvinism when his head was up his own rear end.

Sorry if I sounded a bit rude :-)

I don't know which comments you refer to but I agree with what you say above. The sensitivity about language is a byproduct of feeling alienated within what is seen as your land, especially if people are seemingly taking advantage of an easy going attitude towards migrants. There has never been either fear or hatred of Hindi among Kannadigas (Karnataka is a bit unique among the southern states because it has more than one local language indigenous to the area and so is not usually anti any other), however when disrespect & slight is thought to be deliberately inflicted on one's language & culture, there is occasionally a reaction.
FYI, Tamilians have been usually the primary target in the past of such reactions because they behave quite similarly to many North Indians about an assumed superiority & an assumed lack of respect towards others.

but they want to ensure Kannada should stay as primary language like implementation of Kannada in every single signboards.

English is everywhere & is largely seen as non-threatening.
