Yes. People who do not are not followers of Abrahamic religions called kafirs. And no Muslims are not supposed to "fight" against kafirs. In times of conflict however war can be declared against other states/groups through Islamic legislation.
Umm not exactly true. The shariah which is a direct derivativion does not consider faith (doesn't matter which one) to be a choice. A person born into a Muslim family is lawfully bound to be a Muslim because apostasy is to be punished with death.
Being a believer or a non-believer in Islam is one's personal choice. It's a right given to every human soul right at the time of their creation. And, there's no coercion in Islam. Every soul will bear the consequence of the choices he/she makes....
Human endeavors is full of complex socio-political and economic circumstances which are highly dynamic and changing in 24/7 basis. Hence, Islam encourages establishment of state, government, constitution, legislative/consultive bodies, rights to practice religion & own property, sets of laws, judicial systems, diplomacy, rules of war etc. so that folks from different faiths, races, nationalities, cultures, beliefs etc. can peacefully live and thrive. At the height of the Ottoman Empire, 80% of the inhabitants were non Muslims. Mughals shouldn't be a different case. According to the Jewish folks their golden period was that under the Moors in Andalusia....
In the matter of statecrafts, sometimes wars become inevitable. Islam encourages peace based on pacts, sets of rules and their adherences over wars. However, when a war starts it needs to be waged seriously and with full dedication till an opportunity of peace, on reasonable and beneficial terms, arrives.....
