With deforestation and claiming waterbodies for construction, situation is not good in India either.

India is much better.. You guys planned about it well in advance. You don't have opposition working on your enemy's payroll who oppose every effort to construct dams. We have deforestation, while Indian forests are increasing every year. You have proper rainwater absorption systems, we have concrete all over the place.. even the play grounds have been converted into residential areas.. Our water level in many cities is going down.. In Karachi, most of the areas require 150 feet digging to get the water, while the same areas used to provide water at less than 20 feet..

We only depend on rain.. that's it..

Unfortunately, Indian rivers are drying rapidly. There is illegal construction in catchment areas in every city. Corruption is rampant. Rivers are just not rejuvenating. Water will become a major concern in India in the next 10 years.
