The High Court today declared "Joy Bangla" as national slogan.

The court asked the government to take necessary steps so that the "Joy Bangla" slogan is used at functions of all academic institutions.

Important persons of the state must also use the "Joy Bangla" slogan at the end of all state programmes.

The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader delivered the verdict following a writ petition filed by Dr Bashir Ahmed, a Supreme Court lawyer, seeking necessary order in this regard.

In the petition, the lawyer mentioned that "Joy Bangla" was the slogan of freedom fighters and people of Bangladesh during the Liberation War.

Zindabad is urdu word. India's slogan is jai Hind.

Both India and Bangladesh copy zindabad slogan from Pakistan. For Bangladesh it is understandable because it was part of Pakistan.

Joy and Jai is the same thing. We never say Jai Pakistan or Joy Pakistan whereas Joy Bangla is said on both sides, India and Bangladesh.

Now you are trying to be a non-reasonable gangu and then complain when we compare you with them!

Your example is wrong in this context since we are talking about the slogans here. Do the chinese say China Zindabad? But Bengalis on both sides say Joi Bangla!

West bengalis aren’t real bengalis, they got identity crisis... should they call themselves Bengali or Indian/ bharati and they are pretty disappointed with current arrangement because nobody gives them two cents of the day

Weird choice!

Joy Bangla means Victory to Bengal. We are neither Bengal not we are at any kind of war. On other hand, Bangladesh Zindabad means Long live Bangladesh. I find it much more relevant and appealing compared to Joy Bangla.

Seems like lots of Bangladeshi have identity crisis! Get well soon folks...
