Except they do have FN-6. In this video they use it to take down a Mi-24.

Jordan does not have a CSAR unit, but Saudi Arabia does, I hope Saudi Arabia send Squadron 99 to rescue the pilot, or at least attempt it.

Such situations are always very fluid (dynamic)..... loyalties and targets change with the drop of a hat......... now someone tell the Qataris that.

I harbour no love for Qatar or their Pro-MB approach. What I really hate is ignorance though. I really do hate ignorance above all else in this world. And ignorance is saying that ISIS appeared out of no where, when in fact they have been active in Iraq since the 1990s and in 2003 got huge support from Syria to battle US interests.

ISIS was not created by Saudi Arabia, ISIS never had anything to do with Saudi Arabia. They had Saudi members who got into Iraq through Syria true, but that is the extent of it. FN-6 was supplied by Qatar to everyone who would say that they will bring about an MB government in Syria, this is why for a while MB rebels were the majority, before Egyptian coup happened that lead many to join ISIS because the MB dream was shattered.

I am really really in a nerve here because in one forum I am fighting against Daeshi scum celebrating this news and putting pictures of Saudi jets with "Soon" on them, and in the other I come here to people saying that Saudi Arabia is supporting it.

Both of your sides need to come and sit together and decide which is which. Because honestly I am done.

It could be, the pilot may not have been flying with the proper countermeasures package or perhaps he was not expecting it. Unlike Radar systems whose warning system are more common, it remains to be seen whether this aircraft had the systems installed as the recently bought European AM/BMs may not have had IR warning sensors on them(the Norwegians only had them installed as recently as 2012).



Yeah, but drop tanks are generally capable of being "dropped".. an aircraft canopy is another matter.

I feel really sad for the pilot. I hope ISIS pigs are taught a lesson.....maybe PAF can dispatch JF-17s for strike bombings.....would help our friends (Egypt, Jordan, Syria) and also help in evaluating the performance vis-a-vis F-16s?

This was the early reporting, Dabq is saying that it was "A missile of the type Igla" in their report. And the photo they claim it to be of the shooting is in fact proven a fake by a Saudi air defense officer, saying that the angle of attack shows that the missile was aiming at an elevated heat signature and the photo was in fact of a helicopter and not a fighter jet.

So I believe it came down by mechanical failure. That it was shot down is ISIS propaganda.

Jordan News Agency (Petra) |Jordanian warplane crashes in Syria’s Raqqa region, pilot taken hostage

Amman, Dec. 24 (Petra) -- A Royal Jordanian Air Force warplane crashed over the Raqqa province in Syria and the pilot was taken hostage by the Daash terrorist group, an official source in the Jordan Armed Forces announced on Wednesday.

As per the source, the incident occurred when a number of Royal Jordanian Air Force fighter jets were targeting certain positions of the terrorist organization in Raqqa.

"The pilot was taken hostage by the terrorist organization," the official source added.

"It is well known that this organization does not hide its terrorist agenda and has committed criminal acts and killed innocent Muslims and non-Muslims in Syria and Iraq. Therefore, Jordan holds this group and whoever supports it responsible for the safety and life of the pilot," the source said.

Nope, the Dutch(correction , not Norway as previously misquoted) added a IR MAWS as recently as 2012.. so it might be that the Jordanian purchase if it were from the ex Dutch stock may not have had one.

Whether it was wilful ignorance on part of the GCC fund caretakers or just ignorance of what might happen.. the GCC states who supplied funds against Assad are essentially also responsible for helping Daesh grow into the strapping young terrorists they are today.

One also should not ignore that funds also pour in from private "investors/sympathizers" of which a large section is from the GCC states and from Pakistan/India Indonesia. and so on.

While the regime is mounting an offensive in Aleppo, Daesh is encircling the rebels there, making the regime offensive more successful. The border between regime and Daesh there isn't a single gun fire there.

Lumping all Syrian rebels together is lazy and ignorant. And I expect a higher level of thought from you.

Could be the likely case. What is odd and in my view a massive oversight is that no Search and Rescue team is kept ready at short notice to get to a pilot if he comes down.

Syrian rebels =/= Daesh. Not everyone who took up arms against Assad is a terrorist, 84% of all Daesh operations in Syria are against the rebels. The good rebels. While the regime is mounting an offensive in Aleppo, Daesh is encircling the rebels there, making the regime offensive more successful. The border between regime and Daesh there isn't a single gun fire there.

Lumping all Syrian rebels together is lazy and ignorant. And I expect a higher level of thought from you.

Your thoughts got stuck at that level, can help you there. Lumping them there means that whatever funding, equipment push.. assistance was being shovelled in there.. invariably ended up with the Daesh as well.. whether by capture or by voluntary release. And what guarantee do we have that no Syrian rebels ended up joining Daesh.. whether by choice or by fear.

Not an oversight, but if he is captured and his SOS device was turned off the SAR protocol states to fall back in. Also they are in enemy territory. They would have to fight Assad and go to the rescue location. It is not an easy task.

Tell that to some people in this thread pointing fingers and laughing and accusing him of helping the people he is bombing. A sack of idiots they are.

If you are pointing towards me, i should clarify that my logic for arming the pilot and instructing him to fight out/evade from IS controlled area was that A prisoner with IS is already a dead prisoner. Fighting back and/or trying to evade provides a chance of escape and even failure provides quick death compared to slow torture of IS.
