one of my friend after spending close to 4 lakh rupees to complete engineering degree was getting paid less than Rs 15000/ month...now he drives trucks for a living and earns more than Rs 40,000 / month... most of his co workers (new recruits) are engineering graduates...some go from this job as they cant handle it but after few months they again come back to drive trucks...which is not a well respected job and no one will marry a truck driver in india even though they earn 3 times more than most engineering graduates...my personal opinion is engineering is one of the most useless degrees to study now...all my relatives who completed engineering dont even earn close what my truck driving friend makes.
