All of Pak's machines leverage India herself!!!! What Pak needs is some decisive initial blows and to hold her lines!!! The rest will be done by the Hindu mindset itself!!! No. F 16s were the main escorts. Mirages were the main strike packages. JF 17s kinda did both of them but were not dedicated for single role

The JF-17 with the block 3 package is cheaper to run and is a superior package to the PAF’s F-16 (not the USAF version) so if the block 3 package works (not a given) then yes it will replace the F-16 as the number 1.

In long term thinking, it is the only choice for foreseeable future that PAF keep investing in JFT to keep its at par with other single engine fighters. Selection of Engine remains a curiosity as modern avionics and radars are power hungry despite the fact that electronic designing is becoming smaller on nano scale.
