JF-17 with AESA radar and helmet mounted system and the PL-15 misile will replace F16 as top jet ?

3 question to all members :

1. Why you all want to turn JF-17 into F-16 ????????????????????
2. Why cant you accept the fact that JF-17 in current shape(airframe and engine) is light weight advance Multi Roll Jet ( Block III will be great A-A with AESA and PL-15).
3. PAF need one new bird (Medium or Heavy ,, Single engine or double engine) to not only replace older Mirages but also to add 200+ Jet till 2020 ( one can say 2025) and to counter IAF's Rafal and Su-30s .

JF-17 is good to replace all PAF inventory other than F-16 & Mirages. F-16 can be replaced by Project AZM (Let's see) but right now PAF don't have any true replacement for Mirages (role and tactics in which PAF using them).

That is what I am saying ,,, Sir g , JF-17 never meant to replace mirages , JF-17 was(is) here to replace 100s of F-6s and F-7s with chipper + affordable , advance eqm and tech options …………..

In single engine medium category with delta wing J-10C(p) is only option , 2nd option is PAF replace them with heavy bird , likes of EFT , SU-35 or J-16.....

@above..if we had surplus like scanidavian countries we could but problem is we have to manager with our resources.

plus add to that foreign pressure and dependence on use of that technology.
with time JFT will become state of the art fighter just be patient

Exactly ... for example in antiship role thunder has the lead whereas in deep strike with standoff still none cant beat mirrages as they raad and nuclear delivery role

JFT can do many roles which PAF F-16 are limited or have no capability and AShM, ARM, Standoff Munitions are few to mention here.

Do remember Pakistan and Turkey working on missile tech jointly and Turkey have SOM series which can be mounted on JFTs and they are very capable.

Guys there's a question that keeps bugging me | what if the Saab had won the contract to provide IAF 110 Gripen E. Considering their exceptional attributes - avionics and EW related, don't you think they would have really troubled PAF. Bear in mind that during the RED FLAG exercises they outperformed USAF Vipers and on several occasions sneaked up on F22s which is quite something. On top of that they have been designed in a way that they require minimal maintenance, can take off from a 600m runway and are meteor equipped too. Dont you think this would have helped alleviate IAF maintenance problems and a larger % of planes would have been available at any given time?! @messiach @Oscar @Quwa

No never . F-16 is much more capable and proven platform which will continue service till 2040+- . JF-17 with AESA HMD and PL-15 missile will be a more capable fighter yet not replacement for F-16.

PAF F16s will only serve as long as their life expectency is.beyond that PAF is not considering to have F16s any further except the recent Blocks.however thunder is still evolving and proving to be a cost effective solution for what PAF,s requirments are concerned.eventually by the time F16s reach their tipping point JF17 shall be advance and evolved enough to take charge as the first hand complete package.like rafale after mirage 2000.
