if a sales person came back with 8 people asked about a brochure and then said it means they are hot leads - he/she would be fired. Some folks stop by a booth , ask questions , pick up brochure and walk off -does not equate to a press release...imo.

Asking questions and making negotiations is very different. CATIC is in negotiation with prospective buyers, Its not a toothpaste or a soap that one would buy readily. National defence is most critical and any airforce would not like to enter into a contract unless it is 150% sure that platform can deliver. They are test flying it, and will evaluate it accordingly to their constraints. So stop coming up with street kid logics of "main na manu"

Why not ask the Indian MoD. for last 10 years they have been doing the same as mentioned above by you in MMRCA deal. Why it has taken them 10 years to select an aircraft?
Some indian here are really genious so they will come up with a logic of their own every time specially if the matter involves pakistan.

Perhaps certain matters are still unclear. Let me try and explain, India can afford to spend US$10-15 Billion on MMRCA acquisition (which has been in the process for the past 8 years or so). On the other hand, African countries may only be able to spend US$200-US$500 Million on Air Force expenditure due to their economy and the role of AF in their system. Now if you compare the African purchasing power to Indian purchasing power on AF acquisitons then India is a much bigger customer due to her strategic needs and the power of her economy.

In simpler terms, US$200-500 million may potentially be similar to Indian US$10-15 Billion depending on the size of the economy. Even PAF cannot even dream of spending close to what India does on IAF even though it is a direct threat simply because we cannot afford to spend so much.

its not about 10 Billon. Hex PAF's Block 50 program was more than 5 Billion (5.3 I guess) but that has proceeded smoothly as PAF knew what it wanted. To me it is rather ununderstandable that why IAF took it overly long to even shortlist the finalists leaving aside selection. For me, the purpose of MMRCA was somewhat vague throughout. If an affordable true MR was the purpose of this, then Grippen was the most economical, equally verstile and offered the most industrial interest followed by falcon. But keeping that aside, Saudis started Typhoon induction program in 2007 roughly worth 9 Billion USD and the have completed it in 2011 with IAF still evaluating.Apart from above discussion, constraints do turn up, but in the absence of a firm objective i.e. what do one wants, such delays a imminent

But in the mean time they have trapped themselves , starting with the intention of procuring maintenance friendly aircrafts which can complement mki's they are now going for aircrafts that require huge maintenance costs. Single engine would have been ideal for them as they already have twin engine fighters in form of mig-29's and mki's while the latter been in huge numbers, the only single engine that will remain in service for long is mirage-2k as mig-21's will be retired soon. so it will be a headache for them maintaining a fleet of 500 odd twin engine aircrafts , even the US aircforce with a budget of almost 20 times bigger than india can't afford to go for all twin engine aircrafts.

Till today they have over 1000 units of f-16's (more than anyother aircraft in their inventory) as their backbone and warhorse, which are easy to maintain and can result in more sortie rates than their other fighters
 
the more time they are taking in actually inducting a mmrca , the greater time it gives the j10b and jft to mature -- had they inducted the rafale by now , paf wouldve been pushed to quickly buy the j10a rather than wait for j10b

India uses its positives cleverly, they are getting something more than jets from MMRCA
Compare the time 2005-2015, i think Pakistan and India will be inducting almost same number of jets,but india is using its purchasing power for international politics
 
the more time they are taking in actually inducting a mmrca , the greater time it gives the j10b and jft to mature -- had they inducted the rafale by now , paf wouldve been pushed to quickly buy the j10a rather than wait for j10b

but also look the the grim prospect of it , by doing so they have blocked all doors for Pakistan not only for aircraft sales but for avionics and other systems as well , though Pakistan have been lucky to have access to Chinese equipment, if China wouldn't have been a success story in military aviation, it would have been a ruffling scenario for Pak military
 
will pak members agree that in future if russia sells pakfa to any country , india will get 50% ?

this is what i believe
1. though india invested 50 % project cost, it is a development partner for may b 20% of components like composites, software , ,etc
2. on 3 rd party sale if russia uses indian developed or manufactured products, india will get a share only for that not 50% of whole deal
3. i guess indian contribution to pak fa is more than pak contribution to jf 17
 
jf-17 thunder's future is bright
it will be the best fighter for poor countries especially for African countries who cant afford western fighter jets
 
50 % share is possible if only pak reached an agreement before hand for 3 party sale..
otherwise not,,china can outsource assembling work to pak which i think is only possible if they have surplus contract..
