JF-17 Thunder performing during Dubai Air Show 2017

@Informed Members;

In this video above, JF-17 has landed without using a parachute. Is that a new feature in Block-IIs? In all previous landings, I have seen JF-17 using drogue parachute except this one in Dubai.

Not needed when the runway strip is too long.

It's always possible to brake with wheels braking system, but than probably it will wearout very fast. Hence fighter can't be turned around for more sorties, which is an undesirable situation.
Therefore air brakes / drogue parachutes are built in fighter jets, to assist in breaking fast and reduce maintenance.

Both displays were unique. The Gripen test pilot was demonstrating the slow speed handling characteristics of the jet.
I felt the gripen's control was really far more superior and how the pilot was able to minimise the speed and keep nose up; thunder did too but the agility was just not there. Again we dont know what the low speed performance parameters are for thunder; i think that the pilot could have done a better job at it to show the manouverability more. I would like to see how the jf-17b would do like given it has a larger wingspan.

Agreed. The JF-17 demo needs to be worked on. And some smokewinders would be nice for a change.

It will sell... block 3 will sell..
They need to look at customers demands

Gripen has triplex digital fly-by-wire system. JF-17 is still running on a hybrid FBW i.e. Not a full FBW which means JF cant fully have a care free handling . We have to take this fact into consideration for JF maneuvers vis a vis Gripen maneuvers

The JF-17 demo is a little more restrictive as it does not have the care-free handling like the F-16 does in comparison.

I guess you already said that. Unless JF-17 goes full triplex FBW. It will remain restrictive as compare to F-16

That's a bold and yet vague statement. Unless you know about each aspect of JF17s maneuveribility, flight control laws and pros of the flcc, you should restrain yourself from making such sweeping remarks.

Isnt this a well known fact already JF-17 doesnot have a full FBW ?

Mushak demo followed by the JF-17 demo on the final day of the airshow at Dubai.

Weird that they got the description wrong...they put it under "Dassault Rafale"

no aileron rolls at high speed. a couple of high speed rolls are usually done by most of the fighters to demonstrate their agility which the thunder did not do.
