JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

. .
True - but the F16 can carry 4 x Mk-84, JF17 can only carry 2. F16 is the big daddy in that department.

You should have known better.

a. F-16 comes with a lot of toxic baggage; in terms of closed systems, surveillance etc.
b. F-16 cripples not just your foreign policy, but makes you forever a beggar while production may move to India.

Our plane may not be AS GOOD, but it is OURS

I agree with everything you have said - ;)

But some in the same size and category can carry equally heavy loads as F-16. Such as ....

Nice - then it begs the question of why can't the JF17 also do so ?

The Gripen is an amazing for its size/cost/capabilities - i am grateful that India never went for it with associated TOT.

The Gripen-E is going to be very interesting for sure.

It seems that the 1000LBS GBU-16 on the 2nd hanging point , not the 2000LBS GBU-10 on the 3rd hanging point.

I searched the official PDF of SAAB company, the upper limit of hanging point 2 is 600kg, and the upper limit of hanging point 3 is 1300kg.

Hi,

It is very simple to understand---. When you want to cross that threshold---mostly it is all about the cost of materials---.

Invest 70 million dollars into the JF17---you will be able to buy much higher quality metals---and you will be able to carry more than the Gripen and the F-16---.

The 2 for the price of 1 concept---sounds tachy to many---but in actuality---it is an extremely sound concept---. For it to succeed---the both the buyer and the seller need to understand the utility of the machine & its purpose---.

Here---we did not have access to tier 1 metals---we use the second best quality that is available---and here we see the JF17 in action---.

The 2nd world war---. The american assembly line produced cheaper product in higher numbers---. That product was within 90% the capability of the enemy equipment and in the end---they beat a superior enemy technology---.

Over here---the JF17 BLK 3's bvr missile is superior to any---the HOBS missiles is equally superior---the aesa radar is as good or better than the enemy's---the ew suit is as capable as that of the enemy's---.

In anti ship capabilities the JF17 is far superior to the F16 and the Gripen---. In air to surface category---the JF17 is as capable as the Gripen or the F16---.

Gripen is not amazing for its size and capabilitites---maybe for the western aircrafts it is---.

But the JF17 blk 3 is amazing for its size, capability and cost factor---.

Just wait till the final product is put into service---.

India didnt go for it as Tejas MK-2, with design frozen, has more or less equivalent parameters in comparison to gripen. Doesnt make sense to import (even with TOT as you suggest) if a ground up, IDDM plane is available in a short timeframe.

Rather overstating the capabilities of JF 17. It is, by design supposed to be a "just good enough" plane that is cheap enough to be operated by countries like pakistan. As such, it suffers from design flaws that are cost saving measures but reduce the capabilities by a lot. Does not compare to any true 4th/4.5 gen fighter. Its missiles are less capable (Except for PL 15, only available in block 3 and only if chinese are not overstating capabilities as they are wont to do - And still outclassed by a mile by the likes of Meteor); its AshM are slower, with lower range; No in flight refuelling; and has been plagued by poor availability and reliability.

An okay fighter, if all you want is something that can fly, has a radar, and can shoot - All while fitting a poor countries budget. But it is laughable to claim that it has "superior capabilities" to F16s or Gripens or even Tejas. Better than 3rd gen, but inferior to anything true 4.5th gen.

Coming to production, the americans managed to outproduce the germans, yes, and that was the reason they won as you correctly claimed. However, keeping in mind that PAC has little to no capability of manufacturing the plane on its own, the argument is moot. It is dependant on china for basically every major technologically complex part of the plane, and several non complex parts are CKD kits that they simply assemble.

Meanwhile when you know your self-protection suite is lousy and can't be depended upon to protect you from Western air defense systems, so you turn to spiritual help instead ...View attachment 907887
Weird fetish to make a random Tejas post on JF-17 thread..... Though funnily enough, JF17 doesnt have integrated SPJ, and only has access to a chinese SPJ, known to be well inferior to western & Israeli jammers (You know, the ones used on Tejas? 😜)
Western air defense systems
Though since when did Pakistan have any air defence systems of credibility, let lone "western"?

I believe you were living in a cave for the last 10 years.
Does not compare to any true 4th/4.5 gen fighter.
Please elaborate.
Its missiles are less capable
Please tell us how a PL-12 (SD10) is inferior to an AIM-120?
But it is laughable to claim that it has "superior capabilities" to F16s or Gripens or even Tejas.
From where comes Tejas in this list ??? Arent you ashamed of your Tejas which took more than 40 years to develop and still does not fly properly.
No in flight refuelling;
Again I will say you lived 10 years in a deep dark cave.

The one you saw on 27 Feb 2019. All your Israeli systems failed that day and resulted in a huge humiliation alongside 2 jets and a Heli shot down by PAF. :cheesy:
