Wondering how badly the JF-17 will now be affected by the Russia sanctions, Klimov will be sanctioned, meaning engines will be very difficult to procure, with no movement on the ws-13, operational readiness and deliveries could be significantly impacted now.

Given the drop in the ruble - the engines should be cheaper now, right ?

No, still be same $ vise. It would be interesting if Russians asks for payment in Chinese Yuan for example to by pass US led Frozen Assets. Then again, Russian may ask for higher price to off set the devaluation of Ruble.

Nah,big anything, it might get more expensive, considering Russia is in need of hard cash to offset their crashing economy.

Besides, Pakistan may no longer be comfortable with buying Russian engines after this, even if China has been protecting Pakistan from sanctions by acting as a middleman. With the sanctions in place, Pakistan may just opt to buy Chinese, especially if the J-10C engines prove their worth in the long term.

Pakistan will be impacted by this on a lower degree but it does put plans for any exports now in the questionable or unlikely category

I feel it will give a very wrong signal and disrupt Pak USSR relationship. I think for the forseeable future we should continue with the RD series instead asking the red bear for minor component manufacturing locally. If they refuse we may have a genuine excuse to go Chinese.

A thought for the export customers of JF-17 - Myanmar & Nigeria. I hope they'll be OK and that they would be able to operate the birds freely without any engine issues.

The Dissimilar Air Combat Training is name of the game! You know what your jet does well and doesnt do well, so you fighting someone flying the same jet, you wouldn't learn something new too often. Given that your enemy wouldnt be flying the same jet most of the times, you dont have to worry about it.
If they do, you know the weaknesses of your jet to deal with it. So learning what potential enemies can do is golden but difficult most of the times. Hence the best idea is to pit two friendly dissimilar types against each other to adapt to potential adversaries .....
