Illiteracy at its worst---. In weapons world or in the industrial world---you don't copy an aircraft or systems that are unproven unproven---.

There was no reason for the Paf do that---when it already had an exposure to the F16---F18---F20---Mirage 2000---Saab Gripen.

When you have an access to a superior design known for its flight parameters---why go for an inferior design---.

Wait for another 10 years---the truth about the JF17 being a copy of the F16 and F18 and F20 would come out and the internal display, utility & the size of the Gripen---.

Most of you posters still don't know what is deep inside underneath the skin of the F116 BLK52's other than the rumors.

I said the JF-17 is "based" on the Mig-33 concept, not a "copy". The involvement of Mig in the design of the JF-17 is well documented. Calling others illiterate and you don't have basic reading and comprehension skills. But that doesn't surprise me. You live in your own delusional fantasy world where you believe what you like. It's quite sad really.

I definitely see the resemblance of JF-17 to the F-16, F-18 and F-20. Interesting how they also took lessons from the Gripen. A long time ago, I used to know a Pakistani engineer who actually worked on the F-18 and came back to Pakistan. I asked him if he took some of the work from the F-18 and put it into whatever project he is working on. He said no - he had signed NDAs and had not stolen anything but was working on similar systems. Incidentally he used to own a car repair facility for a high end brand in Islamabad...

Your point is quite valid. In the recent interview, Air Commodore Kaiser Tufail (R) called JF-17 a hybrid design. He said JF17's wings are a copy of F-16, LERX are from F-18 and tail is from Gripen.

The PAF would not have started the Block-III’s production without securing a functional and certified turbofan engine. By UEC’s own admission, the RD-93MA is in its initial testing stage (and not yet ready for flight tests). Thus, the RD-93MA is not ready for integration and testing, much less deployment.​

Can PAC significantly increase the production rate of Jeff? If yes then should PAC increase the production rate of Jeff? According to Sir Kaiser Tufail PAC makes 24 Jeffs per year and Jeffs will be replacing all of our F-7s and Mirages by 2025, is the current production rate enough to achieve this target?

Well, Pakistan currently has 121 JF-17 Thunders (50 Block-1, 59 Block-2 and 12 Block-2B) and the requirement is 300. That's only 179 more required.

179 / 12 Block-3 per year (current schedule) = 15 years

The 300 figure is what the current Pakistani light-weight fighter fleet is (not including the medium-weight F-16s).

Would be interesting to know how many Pakistani F-7s are equivalent to one JF-17 Thunder so the 300 figure could be reduced.

the orignal target was 250 fighters light weight and 110 F16s in medium weight category
