JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

.
What can be the possible reason for choosing lfk for upgrades? Does it also have a swash plate?

What is the coverage for lfk in terms of degrees?

Lfk has a fixed antenna so should be at least 90 degrees. Could be more. Lfk is plug n play and can operate without any modifications. Not the case with klj7As

.
Why LOWEND why not HIGHEND ??

Is cost the issue ? Is size of the HIGHEND is the issue

Even klj-7a with mechanical moving antenna should give at least plus minus 90 degree and/or greater then 180 degree in horizontal axis due to movement of antenna , cost vs. benefit

Sir,
May be it is not just cost vs. benefit but limited weight of JF-17. There is very limited amount of what can be added or subtracted as we know nose cone modification, additional slots for cooling and higher power requirements of the AESA PAF could have to no other choice.

Both versions are designed keeping the jf-17 in mind. It is up to PAF whichever version they like to have, they can order. Keep in mind that KLJ-7A is meant for blk 3, and B version, not the older ones.

.
PAF should distribute the LFK in all squadrons so that practical experience can be obtained in all corners of Pakistan and the crew could be familiarized by the time we get resources to get all the block 2 retrofitted.

What is the expected cost of LFK or equivalent Radar?

.
I meant in civilain/commercial sector

actually PAF have engineering cadre bigger than GD pilots cadre, must be some of the members are not aware about it and previously they were not much involved with R&D but now it seems there are moving in this direction

The problem is people start comparing Pakistan aeronautical programs with the likes of US, Russia, China and France who have been building planes since world war 1. Infact there are many countries who were once big in the industry are no longer doing it alone like Germany and Britain, not becaus ethey don't have the capability but only because financially its not feasible.

The biggest issue people have is why is PAF doing it? PAF is doing it because it needs it and has the budget and organization to make it a success without worrying about the market. No private enterprenure in Paksitan will ever enter in this sector because of very limited market and very high competition in the international market and that too with a lot of political influence.

Only a stupidest of retards would prefer off shelf to indigenous production....

Block 3 is going go beyond any thing in the market and that's just beginning...

Thanks to jf we have now azm as well

PAF should test both operationally and then chose best option.

Perhaps PAF opted for the low end for the B version only but would then procure the high-end for the Block 3 at a later stage as it will give time not just for the equipment to get mature but also the pilots to get familiar.

Two variants of KLJ-7A AESA confirmed. One has 1 single nose array mounted on a mechanically steered mount to provide greater field of regard similar to CAPTOR-E/Raven ES-05/Vixen 1000E. The other has 3 arrays (1 nose+2 side, all fixed) with a cross section suggestive of chines.
