Maybe a question, that was already answered but I wasn't able to find anything: Is there a book on the JF-17 available, which describes its history, gestation, development thru different concepts and finally the results, aka the FC-1/JF-17 as we know it today?

Any recommendations are highly appreciated!

Best,
Deino

Oh Deino Sahib (Herr),

You need to write one... and do a splendid job at that!

The synopsis needs to be like a thriller since... the coming of Age of Thunder is nothing less than intrigue and counter-interigue...

We await your masterpiece on Thunder!

Mangus

Dear mangus,

thanks a lot for your faith in my abilities, but first I think there are many more much more credible (like @Quwa or @messiach) and as such I don't think it would be up to the standard you expect.

Anyway thanks.

Thanks for this Haris Ali, great find.

@Deino, here's a preview of the book. Looks quite detailed.

Hi,

Actually---there is nothing of those 3 aircrafts mentioned in the JF17---absolutely nothing---.

When R AVM Latif got the project---being a F16 pilot---he was under great threat from the US to not copy the F16---aircraft---.

So the decision made was to let the public believe in what they wanted to and the Paf would not contradict them till the final product was made public.

Even when the final product was made public---the Paf never stated anything about the PEDIGREE of this aircraft---they just let it ride---till after Feb 27th when all the news came out what the aircraft was and Shahid Latif made many a candid interviews.

This aircraft is much closer in design to the F18 and F16---. The structure---the wings---the tail---are an upgrade of the F16 / F18 / F20 aircraft design---.

This is the closest that the Paf got to the F16---. The only saving grace that the F16 has is a more powerful engine other than the electronics---otherwise the JF17 would have made the F16 eat dirt if Paf had funds to spare---.

Most people have no comprehension of the " engineering phenomenon " accepted world wide---which is---when you have a superior product available at hand---you never make a copy of an inferior product---. That is engineering design basics 101---.

Someone show me one example the world over---where an engineering consortium copied and inferior product when a superior product was available to copy---name one please---.

And---the world of engineering does not work that way---the Engineers mind & brain does not work that way---. He is programmed by default to manufacture something better than the best item that he has seen or operated if he is capable of---.

Human brain does not go backwards---.

I also expect that the Paf has self restraints on the project so as to not beat the F16 hands down to pis-s off the americans---. They do have a big ego and the F16 is their love of a lifetime---.

They would not want to see a puny little country who was begging for the F16---beat up the F16's real time---does not look good for John boy---not at all.

And these games that have just come out---if the performances are as close to real---there are some real concerns in some places.

And if the Paf gets an engine that is 20-25% more powerful---someone may ask for some serious consequences for pakistan---.

Bottomline---if the writer has compared the JF17 to be the off shoot of the 3 aircraft he mentioned---he has an extremely poor knowledge of engineering.

Engineers do not go backwards in designing a new product for a new century----.

Someone would need to read the book completely to see whether it is a true reflection of what he is writing about. I dont know the gentleman so cannot say how authentic the source from which he derives his base will be. no disrespect meant to anyone.
