JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

Sir your comments requested on issues of superior AD of Jets i.e jammer,Flares/Chaffs suppression of heat/smoke/ir signature. As during Indo-Pak latest air skirmish I have read that Indian jets were unable to lock on the Pak jets. Perhaps the strong point of SU57 shall be it's superior defenses rather than stealth.

On other hand I have read that Indian AF is applying RAM coatings on their jets during upgrades do PAF have applied such coatings on Pak jets.
Russia hasnt fielded a aesa radar yet
And than you see India withdrawing from su 57 once it saw the rafale..tells you about russian electronic suits...this was re enforced with skirmish with Pakistan

India will now look towards the west..i doubt its going to buy russian fighters anymore

Indian choices reflect their limited vision, greased palms, and limited budgets. Them leaving the Su-57 program doesn't reflect poorly of the program itself.

rafales are much more expensive than su 57, the mriages have performed much better than su 30, while india is the operators of both and largest customer of russian equipments...

certainly they are in better position to judge russian equipment similarly pakistan is best judger of chinese equipment being the biggest customer ..

-----back to topic, the only thing that really interests me on block 3 is whether it will get the newer RD93 engine and what will be it (the engine) performance parameters

i think AESA and HMD are confirmed while IRST may depend upon space and $$ issues..on hard points its just going to be a single Pod point..

so pretty much basic thing that we are waiting on is the engine

. .
Unless engine gets a resoanble upgarde what benefit will hardpoints make beyond a separate pod point..none ..also in era of double and triple racks this becomes even more clearer.

I think more important part is whether thunder gets the pod point, IRST, HMD,AESA & RD93MA

Additional hard point means additional drag, and additional RCS.
Additional drag means more power, and less fuel economy,
which then translates to decrease in operational radius.

Now the things with RCS is that it is not magic, and blobs don't just turn up on radar screens.
What the radar receives is a signal which consists of many many signals,
those who are mathematically inclined will remember fourier transforms
anyway, from those signals , one has to only separate signal of importance, and then match that with known signatures to identify which aircraft is it.
Writing above is easy, doing it, means a lot of DSP.

point being, once you load up the aircraft, you can actually play with the radar signatures and effectively fool radars if done intelligently.

Which one is the question

Rd 93 33mk or 93ma

Or will it be ws13

Both have 15% more dry thrust

Combine that with more fuel you can get 20% more range/endurance

Mirage 2000 had M53-5 engine and M53-5 P2 engine and difference in performance was clear
