JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

Are you talking about modified frame?

Takes lots of time money and need to redesign whole air frame hence its cheap to buy jets from other countries rather then developing at home its time consuming and $$$ sinking project @jupiter2007

Hi,

Pretty much---. The condition would be for it to do the same as the F2---8000KG load carrying capacity---. Ability to carry 2 heavy AShM of at least a 1000Kg each---.

Why I say F2---.

The Japs are in a similar situation as us---pretty close---. Larger enemy with large navy---.

If you look at russian naval strike aircraft---they will also be carrying 2 heavy AShM's---.

Against modern defences---you cannot depend on 1 missile to hit---.

To get a chance to break thru the enemy's---get in to strike---and you find out that the 1 missile on the JF17 has developed a short or gone haywire---.

Mi
Kindly please explain what do you mean heavy load out for anti ship missiles, and Pakistan has different approach than Japan Japan faces two biggest threats in form of RuN and PLAAN and has more open sea/Ocean than Pakistan hence its make targets difficult to detect/track/engage and Pakistan doesn't have this problem @MastanKhan

That is why specilaist variants will emerge (in public domain) in block2/3 configuration. Therefore numbers matter.
Strike specialists? End of this year maybe? Would these need higher thrust engines or we can achieve the same capabilities by improving the airframe only (such as composites),

No , probably jf17b with the back seat filled with fuel akin to how a mig 29 variant does, fuel or EW equipment, most likely wing tip pods or hardpoint pods with 2x anti radiation missiles ,
That would be a good SEAD plane , however without its own AAM it would need cover

Quite naive and wishful discussion last 10-15 pages.
JFT is a plane made of some metals, little bit of composite, some plastic and glass, not from rubber that it can be stretched and given any shape.
Block 3 will be its final practical version reaching 4++ Gen, and with network centric warfare , personnel training and intelligence, improvisation and use of all civil and military detection and tracking systems will provide the battle edge over a numerically larger enemy.
NCW will use all RADARS on land, surface ships, and air to provide battlefield awareness, location, detection and targeting. In NCW engagement, technologically advanced fighter jet is important but not as much as data provided by AEW&C systems, land based RADAR and all C2, and C4ISR. This full spectrum net-Centric warfare is complex and need greater skills.
PAF used a subset during Feb 27 strikes. Erieye, and No 24 blinders as posted by @Windjammer played crucial role in denying IAF to strike PAF planes.
Members have gotten too romantic with JFT. It will be single engine light multirole fighter and will play its role as BLOCK II/III fighter AC at par with other 4 Gen fighters.
Project AZM Should be upgraded to 6 Gen fighters. Mother ships along with NCW UAV, even tankers can be equipped to provide AEW&C, Erieye, and full spectrum C4ISR are the future warfare. These are force multipliers.
Project Azm will take 10+ years even with lots of foreign cooperation, so an off the shelf deep strike fighter has to be obtained.

Cost effectivity. More in less.

Hi,

Damn---you should not have talked about it---.

Patience Dr Watson, Patience.

and that too, just like that .. without any effort any time or resources

hopefully. but list 2 or more features that decide gen 4++ (other than AESA radar)

please rephrase. whose personal training, what is civil detection

re skills must be clear if you are talking pilot only or ground staff? the jet fighter or the support element that is airborne? if other than the JF-17 pllot then in my opinion they are not affected by block number of JF17 or its generation

yea things just worked out better for us. and it was no fluke

J-10 comes to mind

It would be good if supersonic 500 liter on jf with two 550 lbs bomb attachment are introduced total 4x 250kg bombs or lgb are introduced this way jf can carry sd-10, pl-5 plus ground attack and carry 2x 500 liters and single 800 liter configuration for multi role in single mission

With 3000 liters internally and 1800 liters externally will give a good attack range plus self defense capability
