Does Pakistan need a twin seated JF-17 Thunder ? Because Pakistan is the main user of the JF-17 Thunder. If Pakistan doesn't need the twin seated plane then it doesn't make much sense to develop it. You don't put so much money and effort to develop a plane so that you just can show it off to potential customers.

pakistan if the desire is to export the two-seater plane a very useful model for serious aerial demonstrations fairs.

i watched the show today by jf-17, live
Good to see the complete vertical roll...

Mastan Khan Saheb.
Firstly please don't call me Sir as inspite of our differences I remain your brother. I respect you for holding opinions even though I might not agree with them. Believe me there is nothing great about me to deserve the title.
Secondly it is not my way to discuss names on the board. I wanted to prove a point and people who know the event know of this gentleman .Thirdly, I don't think his intentions were wrong. Sometimes one's zeal over a deal gets the better of ones judgement. Fourthly,If it is any consolation it was not on this board. I will not name the forum as again it should be our policy not to discuss other fora and its members on this board (or at least not my policy). Suffice it to say it happened and was related to me by a senior member of our board with names and relationship to relevant people. By the way did you know that the son of Pervaiz Musharraf used to frequently visit one of the Pakistani fora. Unfortunately or fortunately I am not acquainted with him though.
Regards
Araz

Hi,

You are right----" loose lips sink ships ". We do these things so that we may look important.

I did not know about Musharraf's son being on the forum----.

JF-17 had the same air demo which F-16 performed later. It was not just a demo, but also meant to understand the capability comparison for its menouvering almost equivalent to F-16 at low height and slow speeds. Their are number of Indian fighter which cannot perform such maneuvers like this at such height and speed. JF-17 is a mini F-16 no doubt.

I was also happy to see JF 17 aireal manuovers yet being no specialist I notice the smoke coming from it's engine which requires to be sort out

Hi,

PAF does need the 2 seater---. If the mirage 2 seater is operational and the F7 2 seater is also operational alongwith the F16's then where does the need of the 2nd seat disappear for the JF 17!

So, so far how has been the training being done ?

Trainer to jf-17 straight ? As in, alone by yourself ? Being a fresh pilot and all ?
No buddy, fresh students after academy go through fighter conversion on F-7, then Mirages and then some make it to the F-16 and some not. While some exceptions also go direct to F-16 from F-7. Then some time in simulator and JF-17 is a piece of cake for them. And our Viper drivers don't need mine or your approval on PDF for what they are.

That's the deal till now which may eventually change

@MastanKhan Another hindrance to exports; it looks like a Kit built aircraft rather than a properly finished product.
The word Feng Shui means little I suppose. By contrast, the cockpit of a 40 year old F-16

Everything seems in its place and not bolted on, no open insulation, padding or jagged edges.

It is not needed because a lot of the instructional training is being conducted through simulators. This is the trend world wide to cut the expense related to training sorties.
When the older aircraft were inducted (Mirages, F-16 A/Bs), the training on the type was conducted through two seaters because simulator technology had not evolved to where it is now. At least PAF has no interest in a JF-17 two seater. For export purposes, we may see one come along, but having trained over 80 pilots on JF-17 without a 2 seater is a testament to the type's user friendliness and the efficacy of the simulators.
