THREE PAKISTAN Air Force (PAF) JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft are to be displayed at this year’s Paris Air Show, which runs from June 15 to 21. The aircraft departed for the Show from their operational base yesterday, June 7.

One aircraft will perform in the flying display and one will be on show in the static park throughout the event. The third will act as a spare. The aircraft is no longer a stranger to air show appearances around the world, having previously been seen at the Farborough Air Show in the UK, Zhuhai Air Show in China, Turkish Air Show in Turkey and Dubai Air Show in the UAE.

Jointly developed by the PAF and China Aero-technology Import Export Corporation (CATIC), the type is co-produced atKamra, Pakistan, by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and CATIC. The JF-17 has been in PAF service since 2010 and is intended to become the backbone of its fighter force, replacing older models within the fleet.

So instead of raising the third squadron, the assigned the last batch of block-1 to existing black panthers

The last batch has been assigned to CCS. Don't get fooled by the serials.
 
Pakistan AF Combat Commanders’ School Inducts JF-17

Pakistan Air Force(PAF) JF-17s lined up the ramp at PAF Base Mushaf, Sargodha, earlier today following their arrival on delivery to the Combat Commanders’ School.

A NEW type with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Combat Commanders’ School (CCS) is the JF-17 Thunder. The type was formally inducted into the CCS during a ceremony at PAF Base Mushaf, Sargodha, today, January 26.

The School will use the aircraft for advanced combat training. At least five JF-17s were delivered to the base today to join the CCS, which already operates the F-7P, F-16A/B and Mirage IIIA. AFD-Dave Allport

PAC Kamra Rolls Out 50th Production JF-17 Thunder

ROLL-OUT OF the 50th Block 1 JF-17 was celebrated today by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra. Although the audience included Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PAF’s top brass, headed by the PAF Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, it was the aircraft, serial number 13-150, that took centre-stage. During the event, the PAF also took the chance to announce the start of production of the next batch of 50 Block 2 JF-17s.

There is a PAF requirement for 150-200 JF-17s before the end of the decade, which will replace all the Chengdu F-7Ps and Dassault Mirage III/Vs serving nine PAF squadrons. There has been a stepping stone approach to production, with more capabilities being built into each batch of 50 aircraft. Block 1 JF-17s were the basic version, armed with PL-5s and Mk 82/83/84 bombs. Among the improved Block 2 aircraft capabilities are the Chinese C-802 anti-shipping missile, SD-10 BVR missiles and an air-to-air refuelling system.

The JF-17 Thunder is a joint Pak-Sino project and one of Pakistan’s national projects. Four prototypes were built in China, as were eight Serial Batch Production (SBP) aircraft. The first aircraft flew in Pakistan from Kamra in March 2007 to celebrate Armed Forces Day, with production at the PAC’s Aircraft Manufacturing Factory commencing in June 2009, leading to the first aircraft leaving the production line in November 2009.

PAC Kamra, together with CATIC (China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation), are now marketing the aircraft to potential export customers. According to one official, “Qatar, Sri Lanka, Turkey and the UAE have shown keen interest” although what level of interest that is, remains uncertain. Sri Lanka, with its ageing fleet of F-7BS, MiG-27s and Kfirs is likely to be the first to purchase an aircraft that can provide good value, with bags of potential. AFD-Alan Warnes

At the other end of the scale, seen here is the first series production JF-17, 07-101, which was built in China, taxiing out at PAC Kamra on March 23, 2007, to take part in the Armed Forces Day Parade over Islamabad. DUBAI 2013: AVIC Promotes CM-400AKG Cruise Missile

CHINA’S AVIC was promoting its new CM-400AKG hypersonic cruise missile this week at the Dubai Air Show. A mock-up of the weapon was displayed alongside the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) JF-17 Thunder in the static display, the PAF being the launch customer for the missile.

Described by the PAF as a ‘carrier killer’, this long-range, Mach 4+ air-to-surface weapon was designed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) and its existence was first made public at Airshow China 2012 in Zhuhai last November.

For the first time, AVIC AHS provided some details of the specifications and performance of the CM-400AKG, through a video playing on the AVIC stand at Dubai this week. AVIC said that the 2,000lb (910kg) weapon, which has a 1ft 3in (0.4m) diameter, has a range of between 54-130nm (100-240km) and can carry either 330lb (150kg) blast or 440lb (200kg) penetration warhead. The video also states that a high-altitude, high-speed launch would normally be used for the missile, with the carrier aircraft flying at Mach 0.7 to 0.9 and an altitude of between 26,200-39,400ft (7,800-12,000m). Unusually for a cruise missile, it will continue to fly at high altitude before making a high-speed dive onto the target. AFD-Dave Allport

Yeah and that's the only place it can show off. Just a take off ,land or a mere high speed pass with a full effort to turn as tight as it can.

India only displayed DRDO Awacs in a foreign air show, which we would like to sell since it is a 'complete' product.

There is no point showing off a light fighter at 'Paris show', nobody gonna buy LCA from there!
 
Should have written 'TRYING TO SURVIVE AFTER SO MANY FAILURES' Rather 'Test Flights'
