Pakistanis friend. You really need to believe the advancement of China... China can even build a working global GPS system while the EU pooling all their resources are struggling to match China Beidou II system. Let me ask you, how many countries has the abilities to do that? Look at China semi- con industries, the level of high technology China come out. We even already start coming up with own processor to match Intel. China can even conduct a mid-course ABM interception which require a very precise, no mistake tracking and precision to knock out the fast moving ICBM in outer space.

PL-12 designer make the claim of PL-12 being superior to Mica. The fact, China has R-77 missile in our inventory but we are not even emulating out PL-12 based on Russian R-77 becos its an inferior design. Based on China research. AIM-120 aerodyanmic is the best way to go. Plus with level of China semi con prowess, is it that hard to believe Mica is an inferior missile compare to PL-12? Something which is in your PAF inventory. You all Pakistanis shall be proud of owning such an advance BVRAAM in your armed forces instead of doubting it. Look at EU, they are not even have the abilties to make a 5th fighter yet and you want to believe they are military technology is superior to Chinese?

Stop listening to western crap about China backward. China is already up there, if not surpass many western nation in technology and advancement.

:What:
Really friend, Pl12's seeker is better than Mica.............................. ......Wake up from your dreams dude. Even Although China's development is ramping, you are far behind compare to west.

GPS system is not a mircal tech bro, EU didn't put there constletion in space bes they already have better option compare to China with very low cost unlike you.

And if your semicond industry is so great than why are PAF doesnt want your radar in your fighter while you can give at lowest cost compare to any other in world. The fact is your semicond industry is nothing more than a manufacturing hub, there is no R&D among the companies.

At the last every body know the quality of chines production, even big names have defected pieces in "made in China".

PAF is using Chinese radar in JF-17, its using Chinese radars for monitoring its airspace, Chinese may be behind western technology as of now, but in next 5-10 years things will be different. And Chinese have a good R&D infrastructure in place, they copy western designs, learn them, and then improve it through their own R&D and make newer products. China is no more what it was a decade back. They have invested heavily in their R&D for their future and the newer locally designed & made weapon systems and platforms are a testament to that.

btw what latest jft serial number have we seen in pictures up till now?

the number 61 refers to 61 engines delivered not 61 JFT manufactured.

Look again on the list. There is an entry for 61 x RD-33 (RD-93 version) engines from Russia AND and separate entry for 61 x JF-17 from China. If you look through the whole SIPRI list, they enter major sub-systems as imported from their country of origin. The F-7BGIs for Bangladesh have their Grifo radars entered separately as coming from Italy to Bangladesh. The same for several planes and vehicles where engines come from a different country. Some armoured vehicle tool with turrets being supplied by a different country to that supplying the actual platform.

If 61 engines have been delivered and similarly 61 jets, then where are the spare engines. Am sure PAF is not flying JF-17s without having spare engines, which no one does.

Also, the SIPRI data gives 61 jets figure but then in details it includes the initial 8 received and the order for 42, which gives the 50 figure. A figure which is correct. Leaving out SIPRI, there is no other data / source which can suggest that PAF order for JF-17s has crossed the 50/51 mark, as the initial batch production was planned for 50 jets and then batch 2, so its not logical to say that we got 61 jets in first batch.

It seems SIPRI has made a mistake here this time.

From the above: Block 1 is in service. Block 2 is about to enter service. And Block three is the next. ... ... Suggest Block 1 production is finished. ... .... Unfotunately "about to enter" does not give us much feel of time for block two.

I see this as open to interpretation. 61 units could be in Pakistan but not yet with the PAF. … … Nothing in the SIPRI data is saying the 61 units are all Block 1.

you both are right and wrong at the same time......
any ways was at PWE AB yesterday - NO JFT's on the tarmac (PAF side) - that suggests they are all at Kamra (temporarily) and / or all were in their HS (hardened silos). the only a/c on the tarmac were 2 Y-12 liaison/transports and 2 Mi-17's SAR. there was 1 AN-26 and 1 civilian Mi-17 probably belonging to KP govt.

@fatman17; that interpretation makes sense. Any Air Force will always keep some spare Engines in inventory. For both foreseen maintenance outages as well as unforeseen down-time. In this case even more so; since the engine supplies are part of a 'trilateral arrangement'. Where every engine supplied is licensed for a particular end-user.

Little chance of having 61 aircraft operational with just no spare engines available.

and yesterday an AN-124 landed at karachi for onward flight to Chaklala/Nur Khan AFB to deliver either engines or CKD kits for JFT or engines for AK MBT.

Why would a chinese origin flight first go to karachi and then chaklala?

Btw, any idea for how long it will be there?

Why are you guys still confused on the 51-61 aircraft issue? Antibody's post clarified it completely. The guys at SIPRI took the previous production rate of the birds, propagated it from the time the 50 were built till the time their report was made and estimated the numbers that would have been built by that time. Its a simple estimate, just a little uninformed of the production pause.

you are assuming a lot without any confirmed details.

The latest rumor from chinese forums indicates that the static test of JF-17 Block II has been very smooth, and is stepping into the final stages of the test.
Since their is not Structural change /modification in BL-II then why the static test again for whole plane?

Sir Ji, JF-17s are all up and flying in Peshawar, they haven't gone anywhere. I can hear their buzzing right now also. :)

There are 2 tarmacs, one is near where the passenger aircraft are stationed and the other is at the end of the runway, there they have the parking area for the fighters, either they are lined or put in the HAS near by.

The MI-17s would be PAAs, as Psh AB has Alouette as SAR, if the civilian Mi-17 was in white & green then its the Governor's helicopter, Y-12s would be PAF & AN-26 would be the Chinese aircraft which come very often here.

Well some were saying it might have a fixed IFR probe, that may need static tests, plus may be some composites are used or the hard points are strengthened to carry more payload which require further testing.
