JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

It is due to engine supply issue. First it was planned Klimov 93MA but its full development and testing has delayed. Then it was planned with same as block 2 engines but Russia got supply problem due to Ukraine war. Now PAF is thinking to switch to Chinese WS-13E or WS-19 but full compatibility testing with JF-17 prototypes are not completed yet. So JF-17 Block 3 are waiting PAC kamra yards for engines.

To compensate, procurement of J-10PE is fast forwarded a bit though all PAF requested features are not fully ready yet.

And you base this "PAF is thinking to switch to Chinese WS-13E or WS-19 but full compatibility testing with JF-17 prototypes are not completed yet" on these recent Indian claims? As such they are a given fact?

These were shown with their engines. So why would you want to change the engines? PAF has earlier said it is going to continue using RD 93 for the first 28 jets.

Pakistan bought in bulk I think I read in some forum or defense magazine rd93 engine purchase batch was of 500 engines so chinese and Pakistan have secured engines for future.

200 not 500.
That was first batch 200 not following batches

The Moscow Chernyshev Machine Building Plant will deliver 43 RD-93 engines to China by the end of this year, a defense industry source told Interfax-AVN.

A contract on the delivery of 43 RD-93 engines to China was signed at the end of last December, he said.

The contract is part of the framework agreement on the delivery of 100 RD-93 aircraft engines to China, the source added.

The RD-93 is a modification of the RD-33 engine installed in Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter jets.

It will be installed in Chinas new fighter jet, FC-1, which will be mostly exported.

There will be no problems fulfilling the contract as the plant has already delivered 57 RD-93 engines to China, the source said.

All the new engines will be delivered to China by the end of this year, he said.

In all, China plans to buy up to 500 RD-93 engines from Russia.

A new contract on the delivery of 100 RD-93 engines is being negotiated, the source said.

In the future, China may be offered a modernized variant of the RD- 93 engine with a thrust of about nine tonnes. The current engines have a thrust of 8.3 tonnes.

Pakistan bears a considerable amount of expenses in the Chinese fighter jet project (up to 50%, according to some sources). In all, up to 250 fighter jets may be produced in Pakistan.

Rosoboronexport and the Chernyshev plant have not commented on the planned delivery.

Any update about the induction of blk-3 guys? I think there is some technical issue otherwise it would have been in service by now..

Hi,

Nice try to snoop---.

It is just the normal process of integration which may take a year or so---.

There is a totally new battle management & air combat system placed in this aircraft to counter the enemy.

Should it not be perfected to fight the enemy rather than please poster?
