JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

How are bird strikes related to production issues…?
Just because it's a bird strike it doesn't mean they would've ignored it and it's business as usual. They must've at least stopped, reviewed and checked everything, improve if/where possible and restart the production, but decided to double down to achieve the targets in reaction to 26-27 February 2019.

Then another one crashes a year later which may have got them thinking, can't be losing aircraft like this just to bird strikes. Just my humble assumption.

Definitely higher ground clearance, check out the clearance of the wing tanks, normally they are very close to the ground. This confirms strike role with Ra'ad.

@messiach and @Dazzler please confirm

you have a point, at this angle it does seem like high clearance. Secondly, i do see bulkier frontal spine right around and behind the cockpit

You can't simply add longer landing gear without having to redesign the landing gear retracting mechanism, not to mention the housing within the airframe and the wheel wells. There's no indication the landing gear has changed. Astonishing what people are willing to see that isn't there.

I think people here had already hinted at landing gear redesign prior to this pic. Here are the three pics of Blk 3 that we have so far, have a look if you can see the landing gear has changed from the first proto-type:
To be honest, im not sure, it just 'looks' higher clearance, could just be wishfulness bias

It's more appropriate to compare with the prior blocks, but I would agree with you, doesn't appear to be any change. The landing bay doors and housing mechanism seems to be the same as previous blocks.

how exactly do you propose we change or modify the JF-17 Thunder to make bird strikes less likely? 🤨
