JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

what is so interesting in my present research, most papers i am reading are mostly non US based, and you will find it incredible almost non believable, good research into a particular problem as been done by some researchers in Pak at 2 universities but these poor souls have not benefited for anything. Their knowledge base could easily have been moved into image processing arena as it remains as one of the best yet.

I am also doing PhD from korea in Big Data and Machine Learning. Does those 2 universities includes PIEAS as well? as one i am sure will be NUST. and in which area you are doing research?

There is a gap of a whole generation between F-16 and F-35.
CAATSA is there and India isn't buying F-16 till now rather went ahead with S-400. As I said, issue isn't mere political.
Furthermore, it's more about F-35 with S-400 as compare to F-16. The reason US threatened to stop F-35 deliveries for Turkey while they have enough F-16s.

We can consider so many factors.
1- "Bhaagtay chor ki langoti he sahi"... As US, if India is going to give away a contract worth 20 billion dollars, possibly the single largest F16 contract through the rest of its production life, why not lock them in strict terms of agreement and sell F16 tech. F16 in India in such large numbers may also increase F16s relevance by years, past its current estimated end of life.

2- In conjunction with 1, Lockheed Martin played smart and contracted Tata in advance to manufacture F16 wings and possibly more parts even before the fate of the MMRCA 2.0 is sealed. India already has enough Industrial know how and capacity to handle something like the F16 and its associated Intellectual property.

3- Not limited to F16, India already manufactures fuselage parts for C130 super hercules, Boeing Apache and Sikorsky S92 helicopter. Denying them F16 isn't is hitting the reverse gear on a flourishing relationship. With the previous large source of F16 parts Turkey no longer reliable under current Erdogan regime, US needs another external partner to invest in the F16 program. It would be a smart decision considering these factors.

4- Turkey already has S400 and F16s so India wouldn't be the only source for Russia to sneak in some intel on F16. Turkey is a greater risk for US at this point in time w.r.t F16 info for Russia. US knows this.

5- They win a strategic ally against the ever rising Chinese military might. Antagonizing India, the only large power that can be a long term ally in this region, is not going to be a smart move. They already renamed the Pacific command as Indo Pacific command to give greater relevance to India in the US strategic doctrines. Denying them F16 because of CAATSA wouldn't make India happy.

That is just unbelievable; if you were to visit here, I will personally take to my prior university at Potchefstroom; there is a department of aeronautics. Amazing work including powered gliders that are exported from the university as a source of revenue.

It is ever frustrating hearing about what universities abroad are doing. Endowments of top universities are greater than exports of some of the largest nations because they choose to venture out in industry to source more funds for further research and development.

...... A lot of times they are totally clueless about modern concepts/threats, terminologies etc.

I sometimes meet forces officers who don't know much if anything worthwhile at all beyond what they are directly dealing with, like the files on their table to put it simply. I understand what you mean but I understand there are still officers who are actually really smart. I have had a chance to meet a few of them. They may not be generals/admirals/air marshals in waiting but they are still worthwhile officers.

They end up being impressed by me!

Some may find it well meaning patriotism, but others may just consider you a nuisance. Best avoid confronting people, and mostly be a passive listener unless you hear something that is absolutely unbearably wrong.

What you say is true — we have lots of talent, my dads very good friend his son is a PhD Student in Pharmacy Technology in Pakistan is doing research on cancer delivery mechanism — whereas instead of doing a full chemotherapy to target cancerous tumors they are developing a device which would inject medicine directly into the body and then guide the medicine to the tumor and then release the medication, by directing a high energy light, when medication is close to the tumor.

Sadly, he needed funding to further research and the HEC was asked multiple times to give grants his professors even begged but they didn’t listen. He then got accepted into Germany through the HEC PhD program and completed his PhD in October after defending this dissertation. Inshallah he will be returning back to Punjab University at Lahore to teach and is working on process of bring research to the forefront.

I’m astonished at the talent we have but sadly we aren’t giving much importance to our students.

The brain drain is much bigger than our government is letting on in their statistical reports according to some people I know.

Hi,

When he returns---his education & learning will be sabotaged by the pakistanis---.

A supreme court chief justice will call him to his house and sanction him because the judge's brother did not get the grant---.

Speculations and wrong translation may continue until and unless, some real picture. I can say that it was before our eyes since a while and only we couldn't see it. Let's wait for it and I wouldn't rush for such translated news which itself depends upon foreign news outlet.

The JF17 Chenlong fighter is a quasi-three-generation light fighter specially developed for export to Pakistan in China. The Chenlong is a single-engine single-seat all-weather combat aircraft with multiple functions such as interception, air combat, and ground-to-sea strike. The fuselage has a weapon loading capacity of nearly 4 tons. Because of its excellent airframe design, outstanding maneuverability, and the combination of China's latest electronic technology, built-in flat-panel display and control computer, the information-based beyond-horizon combat capability is not weak. The unit price of the Xiaolong fighter is about 30 million US dollars, which is one of the most cost-effective models in the world's military trade market. It has been exported to Pakistan, Myanmar, Nigeria and other countries!

▲ Nine Dragon Fighter

According to foreign media reports, the current dragon stealth fighter is likely to have the latest stealth improved version, and its overall combat power is even more than the Block3 type. The Phantom stealth type has been replaced with a new integrated glass hatch. The nose cover of the nose adopts a zigzag stealth design. The external weapon rack has been replaced with a hidden protective weapon rack, and the radar reflection signal has become obvious. The reduction. Secondly, the stealth Xiaolong replaced the original KJL-7 multi-mode pulse Doppler radar with the LKF601E air-cooled active phased array radar type active phased array radar. The maximum detection range extended from 130 km to 170. Kilometers, and multi-target recognition and tracking capabilities have also been greatly improved.

The J-10 is China's main active medium-sized single-engine three-generation fighter aircraft. The overall combat capability has surpassed the earlier models of the F16C / D. The J-10C is the latest improvement of the J-10 series. Than the latest F16V, it is one of the strongest three and a half generation fighters. The J-10C eliminates many external protruding devices, and the overall appearance is smoother. The cockpit cover uses the latest wave-absorbing coating and the DSI intake port is used in the abdomen, which can well shield the engine's thermal infrared signals. The J-10C is also equipped with a laser-guided pod that can match a variety of ground-guided weapons and has strong ground-attack capabilities.

▲ J-10C

As two domestic three-generation fighter stars, if the latest stealth Xiaolong confronts the J-10C, who will be better? Who can win in air combat mainly depends on the three aspects of radar detection range, stealth, and air-to-air missile performance. From the point of view of stealth, the dragon stealth version has more advantages. The dragon itself has the advantages of small fuselage and small radar reflection area. With the addition of a conformal hanger, stealth performance is even more prominent. The J-10C's fuselage is larger. Although it also uses a stealth design similar to the fourth-generation aircraft, it is still impossible to compare with the real stealth fighter.

▲ Nine Dragon block3

Although the dragon stealth has a slight advantage, the export version of the phased array radar and the J-10C's self-use version still have a gap, so at the same distance, the dragon stealth version will still be found by the J-10C first. The F-10C's latest equipment, the Thunderbolt 15, has a range of more than 150 kilometers. It is said that it has the ability to shoot down early-warning aircraft, and it is even more important to deal with fighters like Chenlong. Therefore, from the perspective of overall combat power, the J-10C is indifferent to the stealth version of the Dragon, and it has certain advantages against the current mainstream three and a half fighters!

Please not this again.

Simply No. The quoted picture is proven to be fan art presented to Pakistan Air Force officials at China Air Show a couple of years ago. It was like a celebration for JF-17 Thunder, on that particular occasion. There's been no sign neither any news in this regard for Block-III. However, one can only assume as such if it ever became the part of consideration for Block-IV but not now.

Regards,

Enough to understand per highlighted part. There is a mix of information pretty close to reality & assumptions that made it a news piece. It will be appreciated to avoid unsubstantiated news.
